WVR - The Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, in collaboration with the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Germany, recently organized a fundraising event to support compatriots in Vietnam affected by Typhoon No. 10 (internationally known as Bualoi).

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh expressed his deep gratitude for the solidarity and compassion shown by the Vietnamese community in Germany towards their homeland. He affirmed that regardless of the circumstances, even when far from home, the Vietnamese community consistently demonstrates unity, responsibility, and deep affection for their compatriots back home.

The Ambassador emphasized that this is not only a humanitarian activity of profound significance but also a reflection of the Vietnamese tradition of “the good leaves protect the worn-out leaves”, reinforcing the bond between overseas Vietnamese and their homeland.

Typhoon No. 10 recently caused severe damage in many provinces of Vietnam, resulting in dozens of deaths, thousands of homes flooded and damaged, and many transportation routes cut off.

In response to these losses, the Vietnamese Embassy and the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Germany called on associations, organizations, and individuals within the community to contribute both materially and spiritually to help compatriots overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

During the event, many businesses, associations, and individuals directly donated cash, made bank transfers, or pledged support, with initial contributions amounting to tens of thousands of Euros.

The organizers stated that all funds raised will be sent to Vietnam through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to promptly support those in storm-hit areas.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hien – Honorary Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Germany, stated that today’s contributions from the Vietnamese community in Germany are not only of material value but also represent the heartfelt warmth of those far from their homeland. Wherever they are, the Vietnamese community in Germany always looks towards Vietnam, sharing hardships with their compatriots in times of trouble.

The event was conducted in a solemn, warm, and heartfelt atmosphere. Many community members, entrepreneurs, and students were moved by images and clips showing the devastation of Typhoon Bualoi and the recovery efforts of the people in Central Vietnam.

Some associations expressed their desire to launch additional fundraising programs, particularly aimed at supporting the reconstruction of heavily damaged homes, schools, and health stations.

Representatives of the organizing committee stated that the fundraising activities will continue in the coming time to spread the spirit of compassion and strengthen the connection of the overseas Vietnamese community.

The fundraising event at Dong Xuan Trade Center concluded with a thank you from the Vietnamese Embassy to the entire Vietnamese community in Germany.

Amid applause and emotional gazes, the image of compassionate hearts extending from Berlin to Vietnam left a deep impression, vividly reflecting the spirit of “the good leaves protect the worn-out leaves” – a precious tradition of the Vietnamese people.
