Attending the event were Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Dac Thanh and his spouse; Vice President of the German Federal Parliament Bodo Ramelow; Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thinh, Acting President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Germany; Martin Schaefer, District Chief of Lichtenberg, where the Dong Xuan Trade Center is located; along with ambassadors, their spouses, and charge d'affaires from ASEAN countries, China, Japan, and South Korea in Berlin. The event attracted over 700 Vietnamese from across Germany and numerous international guests, creating a solemn, warm atmosphere rich in national identity.
In his opening remarks following a dazzling fireworks display, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh conveyed New Year wishes from President Luong Cuong to all compatriots and distinguished guests. The Ambassador emphasized that 2025 marked significant achievements for the country, with strategic decisions aimed at streamlining the apparatus, restructuring development space, and creating new breakthrough momentum.
Vietnam-Germany relations continue to deepen across various fields, including economic trade, finance, environment, energy, labor, science and technology, and national defense. The two countries have organized numerous activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
The Ambassador affirmed that the community of over 200,000 Vietnamese in Germany serves as an important bridge, contributing to the promotion of bilateral cooperation and deeper integration. Notably, the renaming of the "Dong Xuan" tram station at the renowned cultural and trade exchange center of the Vietnamese community in Berlin at the beginning of 2026 brings Vietnamese pride, acknowledging the community's successful and deep integration into local social life.

Recalling General Secretary To Lam's words, "The 14th National Party Congress marks a significant transition in the country's development process, opening a new path of action with higher aspirations and demands," the Ambassador urged all embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in Germany in 2026 to share a common aspiration to build a better future and strive to elevate the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership to new heights.
Speaking at the event, Vice President of the German Federal Parliament Bodo Ramelow affirmed that the more than 200,000 Vietnamese living and working in Germany are "peace ambassadors" contributing to fostering cooperation between the two nations. He pledged continued support for promoting the strategic partnership between the two countries through practical actions, especially during his visit to Vietnam in June 2026.

Vice President Ramelow extended his best New Year wishes to the Vietnamese people and hoped the Year of the Horse would bring green shoots of peace and sustainable development.
In a space filled with the essence of Spring, featuring vibrant peach and apricot blossoms, calligraphy corners, banh chung wrapping areas, and Tet flower stalls, numerous compatriots and international guests mingled, enjoyed traditional cuisine prepared by Vietnamese restaurants in Berlin, and immersed themselves in special art performances, from lively Spring songs to traditional opera, magic, and circus acts by artists from the Ho Chi Minh City Art Troupe.

The Community Tet Celebration for the Year of the Horse 2026 is not only an occasion for Vietnamese in Germany to gather and preserve their cultural identity but also a vivid testament to the community's role as a bridge in promoting friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.
