The event took place during the historic 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, highlighting the vital role of Vietnamese expatriates in nurturing the traditional friendship, loyal solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung expressed his emotions upon setting foot in the brotherly land of Cuba for the first time, meeting those who tirelessly contribute to building Vietnam's image in this distant land across the hemisphere. He emphasized that the exemplary special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba is an invaluable asset and a crucial foundation that every individual, especially the Vietnamese community here, should deeply appreciate to preserve and develop.

The visit was marked by specific economic and trade cooperation initiatives. Just prior, the first session of the Joint Committee implementing the Trade Agreement achieved a common goal: to increase bilateral trade to 500 million USD, focusing on resolving payment difficulties, promoting investment, and cooperation in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. In talks with Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Óscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, leaders of both countries agreed to advance priority projects, particularly in agriculture and fisheries, contributing to ensuring food security for Cuba.

Within this framework, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung placed great expectations on the business community and Vietnamese people in Cuba. He pointed out that Cuba has significant cooperation potential in areas such as high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, and biotechnology. Vietnamese enterprises, which have overcome numerous challenges not only with capital and intellect but also with genuine affection for Cuba and its people, should play the role of "economic ambassadors", spreading influence and attracting more Vietnamese investors.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long, in his report, affirmed that investment is a highlight in bilateral relations, with Vietnamese enterprises holding the number one position in the Asia-Pacific region in this market. Although the Vietnamese community is not large, thanks to the special friendship, the embassy has always effectively played its core role, becoming a reliable bridge, closely following the local situation and recommending practical policies to further strengthen the solidarity between the two nations.

In response to the enterprises' concerns, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung directed relevant ministries and sectors to closely coordinate with the Cuban side to resolve difficulties and create favorable conditions for investment and business activities.

The final message to the community was a reminder of the spirit of unity and mutual support. "The community may not be large in number, but it must be strong in quality, forming a solid block to share, support, and look towards the homeland together," emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.

This visit and these interactions are not just routine diplomatic activities but a strong affirmation that, in the journey of developing the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship, every overseas Vietnamese is a red brick, a trusted ambassador, contributing to building a solid bridge connecting the two countries and two brotherly peoples.
