Vietnamese Community Football Tournament in Japan celebrates National Day
WVR - On August 30, at Koshido Stadium in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, the Vietnamese community football tournament in the Tokai region took place with great enthusiasm, marking the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2026).

The tournament was organized by the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA), under the patronage of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, and with the cooperation and support of the local authorities.

Connecting with the homeland from a community playground
This year's tournament attracted nearly 40 teams to register. After the selection round, 24 teams were divided into 6 groups, competing in a round-robin format on 6 pitches simultaneously, before entering the knockout rounds to vie for the championship.
Hundreds of Vietnamese supporters living, studying, and working in Japan, along with numerous local residents, came to cheer. The vibrant atmosphere in the stands and the enthusiastic spirit of the players created a festive sports day of unity and exchange, all directed towards the nation's National Day.

Not only is it a playground for health training, enhancing spiritual life, and strengthening bonds within the overseas Vietnamese community, but the tournament also contributes to promoting cultural exchange, fostering friendship, and strengthening ties between the Vietnamese community and the Japanese people.
Mr. Pham Tuan Anh, Director of J-Connect Telecommunications Network, shared: “We are truly grateful for the contributions of young Vietnamese working and dedicating themselves to the company’s development. Therefore, we want to provide opportunities for them to play, satisfy their passion for football, and have an enriching spiritual experience to relieve stress after work.”

Mr. Wakabe Munehiro, a Japanese supporter, enthusiastically shared: “This is truly a meaningful sports activity. I believe that through football and sports, the friendship and connection between Vietnam and Japan will be increasingly strengthened. I hope that at the 2030 World Cup, both the Vietnamese and Japanese national teams will participate.”
After a day of exciting, intense, and captivating matches, FC ISC claimed the championship. FC Uni-co Hai Phong took the runner-up position. FC Nishio and FC 37 Nagoya shared third place.
The Organizing Committee also awarded individual prizes. Player Albulu Diego won the Top Scorer title; goalkeeper Pham Vuong Cong Phi was awarded Best Goalkeeper; and player Nguyen Xuan Truong An received the Best Player of the Tournament title. All three players are from FC ISC.

Mr. Do Quang Ba, Chairman of FAVIJA, stated that the top four teams from the tournament will qualify to participate in the National Vietnamese Football Championship in Japan, expected to be held in November in Tokyo.
The tournament is one of the meaningful community sports activities, contributing to enhancing spiritual life, strengthening unity within the Vietnamese community in Japan, and promoting exchange, understanding, and friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Japan.
