Vietnam to host International Conference on 'Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education'

The robust development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has multifaceted impacts on various aspects of life, particularly in education and training. This evolution presents both challenges and opportunities. To support Vietnam's education sector, especially teachers, parents, and students, in adapting to the remarkable advancements in information technology and AI, the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) will collaborate with The Vietnam Foundation (VNF), Khan Academy, and the Vietnam Association of Mathematics Education (AME) to organise the international conference on "Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education."

The conference will gather education leaders, renowned researchers, scholars from Vietnam and 18 other countries, and educational administrators and teachers from all 63 Vietnamese cities and provinces. They will explore AI's implications for education's future and discuss practical solutions to harness AI's potential while mitigating its adverse effects on education.

The conference will also include sessions on the practical application of information technology in education, drawing from experiences in Vietnam and other countries such as the United States, Germany, India, the Philippines, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, and Bangladesh. The specific focus will be on applying the Khan Academy platform in teaching and learning in Vietnam and other nations, aiming to draw critical conclusions to enhance the quality of digital transformation in the Vietnamese education system.

Furthermore, the conference’s organising entities will present their strategic vision and critical activities to support schools and teachers across all 63 provinces in effectively implementing the Khan Academy online learning platform into educational activities.

The Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), since its establishment in 2010, has become a meeting point for mathematical scientists from both Vietnam and abroad. VIASM also coordinates Vietnam's National Program for the Development of Mathematics from 2021 to 2030 (NPDM). This program aims to 1) encourage young students to pursue mathematics studies, 2) improve the quality of mathematics teaching and learning at both school and university levels, and 3) facilitate the dissemination of scientific knowledge to the public.

The Vietnam Foundation (VNF) is a U.S.-based non-profit organisation established in 2008 that operates in Vietnam under Operation Registration Certificate no. 239/CNV-HĐ dated July 28, 2014, issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs Provincial. Simultaneously, the platform provides test preparation courses for international certifications such as SAT, Praxis, and LSAT, as well as supplementary courses in life skills, covering topics like Internet Safety, Financial Literacy, and Growth Mindset.

The Vietnam Association of Mathematics Education (AME), established in 1995 under the auspices of the Vietnam Mathematical Society, is dedicated to professional activities such as research, teaching, and training in mathematics education. The association aims to contribute to the improvement of the quality of teaching and learning mathematics at schools. AME operates as a voluntary organisation, welcoming individuals who are interested in the field of general education mathematics, particularly teachers and those engaged in the fields of training, research, and management. The association also attracts participation from individuals in other fields interested in general education mathematics and who wish to contribute.
