This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its role as an active and responsible member of the international community, to express its views and share development experiences, contributing practical initiatives and solutions to common global issues such as peace, stability, sustainable development, and climate change response...
The President will also engage in numerous bilateral activities with the United States covering politics, economy, technology, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, as the two countries celebrate 30 years of normalized diplomatic relations and two years of the Vietnam-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development. These activities will help maintain stability and promote comprehensive development of bilateral relations in the future.

How do you assess the quantitative and qualitative shifts in cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economy, after two years of upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership?
Upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership provides momentum and a framework for the bilateral relationship to achieve significant results, despite changes in the U.S. administration and leadership changes in Vietnam during this period.
Notably, mutual respect and interest have been enhanced. This is evident through the maintenance and expansion of exchange channels at all levels, especially high-level contacts. There have been numerous meetings and phone calls between our leaders and the U.S. President, previously President Joe Biden and now President Donald Trump.
In recent months, there have been four phone calls between General Secretary To Lam and President Trump. High-level contacts lay the foundation and direction for the development of bilateral relations across various fields.
In terms of economy, trade, and investment, the two countries have achieved remarkable results. Bilateral trade continues to grow robustly, with the United States remaining Vietnam's top export market. The U.S. prioritizes reciprocal trade negotiations with Vietnam, and both sides have reached a high-level understanding to guide specific negotiations for more sustainable and balanced trade.
Vietnam continues to attract investment interest from U.S. businesses, especially leading companies in technology, energy, and logistics, while more Vietnamese enterprises are eager to invest in the United States.
Cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries are thriving, as evidenced by the growth in the number of students studying abroad and tourism, creating a deeper understanding between the peoples of both nations.

What is your assessment of the potential for cooperation between the two countries in science and technology and other areas of strength in the coming time?
Given the many changes in the international and regional landscape, as well as the strengths and desires of both countries, it can be affirmed that the strongest potential for cooperation lies in the economy, trade, and science and technology. These areas align well with our needs, orientations, and development priorities in the new era, while also fitting the U.S. goals and trends of ensuring diversification and sustainability of supply chains. This presents an opportunity for Vietnam to become a reliable partner in global value chains, particularly in technology, clean energy, and sustainable development.
Secondly, culture and tourism also hold great potential. The year 2026 will mark the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, offering a good opportunity for the two countries to organize meaningful cultural activities. Vietnam is also promoting the development of the creative industry, and accessing the U.S. market and learning from U.S. experiences will positively impact this aspect of our development.
Thirdly, education and training are crucial areas. Vietnam has a significant demand for developing high-quality human resources. The experience and advanced education systems of the United States are valuable assets that we can leverage more, contributing to improving the quality of education for our students and enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries.

How can the Vietnamese community in the United States contribute to promoting bilateral relations, Ambassador?
The Vietnamese community in the United States is increasingly strong, with many successful individuals in various fields, particularly in science and technology, playing an increasingly important role in U.S. socio-political life. Most generations of Vietnamese in the United States maintain affection for their homeland, looking towards Vietnam and wishing to participate and contribute to the country's development.
On this basis, I hope and expect the Vietnamese community to continue to be an effective bridge, contributing more positively to promoting bilateral relations by enhancing understanding and connecting more in terms of economy, culture, and education between the peoples of both countries.
Thank you very much, Ambassador!
