On the international side, the event was attended by Mr. Pallab Sengupta, Secretary of the National Council of the Communist Party of India, President of the World Peace Council, and member of the Presidium of AIPSO; Mr. Rabin Deb, member of the Central Inspection Commission of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and member of the AIPSO Advisory Council; Ambassador Phouangkeo Langsy, Vice President of the Lao Peace and Solidarity Committee; Mr. Phousy Keosounxay, Deputy Director of the People's External Relations Department, Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, and Secretary of the Lao Peace and Solidarity Committee.
The Romesh Chandra Award, founded by AIPSO, is named after Mr. Romesh Chandra – Honorary President of the World Peace Council, a shining symbol of the international peace movement, and a steadfast fighter who dedicated his life to the ideals of peace, anti-imperialism, and fostering friendship among nations.
Mr. Romesh Chandra was also a loyal friend, always standing by the Vietnamese people, actively promoting progressive movements and peace-loving forces worldwide to support Vietnam's struggle for independence and freedom.

The Romesh Chandra Award was presented to Mr. Uong Chu Luu to honor his outstanding contributions to the cause of peace and international solidarity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pallab Sengupta, Secretary of the National Council of the Communist Party of India, President of the World Peace Council, and member of the Presidium of AIPSO, affirmed that Mr. Uông Chu Lưu is a dedicated advocate for peace and international solidarity.
“As a distinguished politician and former Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Comrade Uong Chu Luu has devoted his life to promoting the ideals of independence, equality, and social progress that President Ho Chi Minh always championed.
As Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee, he has amplified Vietnam's voice in the international peace and friendship movement, making significant contributions to building the peace and solidarity movement worldwide.
His leadership has further strengthened the historical ties between the peoples of Vietnam and India, as well as among nations worldwide sharing the aspiration for a just and peaceful world,” Mr. Pallab Sengupta emphasized.
According to him, the Romesh Chandra Award not only acknowledges Mr. Uong Chu Luu's personal contributions to promoting peace, dialogue, and solidarity but also honors the collective efforts of the Vietnamese people in building a just and peaceful world order based on equality and mutual respect.

At the ceremony, Mr. Uong Chu Luu expressed his honor and emotion upon receiving the Romesh Chandra Award, named after a world-renowned peace fighter who dedicated his life to the international peace movement, opposing war, promoting justice, and fostering solidarity and friendship among nations.
He emotionally shared: “This is not only a recognition for me personally but also an acknowledgment and honor for the efforts of those working in people-to-people diplomacy at the Vietnam Peace Committee and VUFO. I sincerely thank colleagues and friends both domestically and internationally, including the World Peace Council, AIPSO, and the Lao Peace and Solidarity Committee, who have always accompanied and supported us in the cause of peace and friendship among nations.”
Mr. Uong Chu Luu noted that the Vietnam Peace Committee was established in 1950, as one of Vietnam's first multilateral people's organizations, directed by our Party and President Ho Chi Minh to operate in the field of people-to-people diplomacy, linking the struggle for national independence and reunification of the Vietnamese people with the global peace movement.
Through generations of leadership who laid the foundation and worked diligently, the Committee has grown steadily, contributing significantly to the struggle for national liberation, reunification, and the building and defense of Vietnam, while also contributing to the global people's movement for peace, national independence, democracy, and social progress.

In the coming time, the Vietnam Peace Committee will steadfastly pursue its mission to promote people-to-people diplomacy activities, fostering friendship and solidarity between the Vietnamese people and international friends; while actively contributing to the international community's efforts to build a civilized, just, and sustainable world.
| The Romesh Chandra Award was established to commemorate the life and career of Mr. Romesh Chandra, honoring his extraordinary contributions to the international peace movement; recognizing individuals and organizations with outstanding contributions to promoting peace, strengthening international solidarity, acknowledging the tireless dedication of peace activists, and inspiring future generations to continue to dedicate themselves and spread the noble values of peace, independence, freedom, and friendship among nations. This award was presented to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Binh, former Central Committee member, former Vice President, and Honorary President of the Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation (now the Vietnam Peace and Development Council); Mr. Uong Chu Luu, former Central Committee member, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee; Mr. Tran Dac Loi, former Standing Deputy Head of the Central Committee's External Relations Department, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee, and Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation (now the Vietnam Peace and Development Council). |
