One day earlier, the Ministry of Health announced that an additional two patients who had been suffering from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have both made successful recoveries.
The pair were released from the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases after making a full recovery. One of them is a 44-year-old woman, a staff member of Truong Sinh Ltd., Co., whose test result turned positive after she recovered on April 16. The other is from Ha Loi village, Me Linh commune of Ha Noi.
At present they are in stable health condition and show no symptoms of the virus such as a fever, a cough, or shortness of breath.
As of May 21 afternoon, 266 people out of a total of 324 COVID-19 patients have gone on to make a full recovery from the deadly virus nationwide, equivalent to 82%, with no deaths.
The remainder is being treated at nine national and provincial health facilities, with four testing negative once for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and four negative at least twice.
The number of quarantined people who had close contact or returned from epidemic-hit nations has stood at 14,744. They are being placed into isolation for health monitoring at hospitals, health facilities, and places of residence.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, told a meeting of the committee in Ha Noi on May 21 that Vietnam has successfully put the COVID-19 pandemic under control but the fight against the pandemic may drag out, requiring the country to be always fully prepared.
