Vietnam and Japan strengthen coordination for APEC 2027 and CPTPP

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang affirmed that Vietnam always values the role of the APEC Forum in the regional and global multilateral cooperation structure. She highly appreciated Japan's role as a founding member, leading in promoting APEC cooperation, and expressed support for Japan hosting APEC 2031.
As the Chair of SOM APEC 2027, the Deputy Minister suggested that Japan continue to support, assist, and closely coordinate with Vietnam in preparation efforts, particularly in developing themes and agendas that align with the interests and priorities of members, ensuring continuity in APEC cooperation.

Mr. Tamura Hideyasu praised Vietnam's prompt preparation for APEC 2027, expressing confidence that, with its experience of hosting APEC twice before and its proactive and responsible spirit, Vietnam will successfully organize APEC 2027, contributing to the goal of building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Asia-Pacific community.
He affirmed that he and Japan will closely coordinate with Vietnam in preparing and organizing APEC 2027 events.
In addition to APEC cooperation, the two sides discussed coordination within the framework of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Mr. Tamura Hideyasu highly valued Vietnam's role as Chair of CPTPP 2026, affirming close coordination to effectively and substantively implement commitments, ensuring the high standards of the Agreement.
