Deputy FM Le Thi Thu Hang launches preparation roadmap for APEC Year 2027 communication and cultural activities

WVR - On December 22, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, Head of the Subcommittee on Communication and Culture of the National Committee for APEC 2027, chaired the first meeting of the Subcommittee, officially launching the preparation roadmap for APEC Year 2027.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Subcommittee, along with leaders from key departments, ministries, press agencies, and representatives from the People's Committee of An Giang province.

Affirming that Vietnam hosting APEC Year 2027 for the third time is a great honour and a significant international responsibility, Deputy Foreign Minister Thu Hang emphasized that this reflects the high trust and confidence of member economies in Vietnam amidst deep integration. The event also opens opportunities to promote the image of the country and host localities, especially Phu Quoc and An Giang.

The Deputy Minister stated that communication and cultural activities play a pioneering role, offering a crucial opportunity to widely introduce the image of a renewing, dynamic, culturally rich, and hospitable Vietnam to international friends. Success in this area will contribute to creating a mark of an active, positive, and responsible Vietnam in the international community.

Based on the functions and tasks outlined in Decision No. 161/QĐ-UBQGAPEC2027 by the Chairman of the National Committee for APEC 2027, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang outlined the implementation direction through three key phases: (i) Phase 1 in 2026, focusing on preparation, developing proposals, plans, roadmaps, site surveys, building an image identity, APEC 2027 website, and producing information publications; (ii) Phase 2 in 2027, launching peak communication campaigns linked to major conferences and sectoral ministerial meetings; (iii) The phase serving APEC 2027 Economic Leaders’ Week, focusing on operating the International Media Center, managing journalists, and organizing high-level cultural and artistic events.

During the meeting, Subcommittee members contributed many important opinions to the draft work roadmap, expressing a desire to enhance smooth coordination among relevant agencies in leading and collaborating to effectively implement the Subcommittee's overall work. Members agreed to leverage experiences from organizing APEC Years 2006 and 2017, while also innovating to ensure effective, synchronized, unified, and comprehensive communication and cultural activities.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang urged Subcommittee members, with the highest sense of responsibility, to promptly concretize the implementation roadmap within their agencies and units. Additionally, they should closely coordinate with the Standing Department, the Press and Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to ensure communication and cultural activities are always a step ahead, contributing to the overall success of APEC Vietnam 2027.
