Deputy FM Ngo Le Van chairs first meeting of APEC 2027 Protocol Subcommittee

WVR - On the afternoon of January 6, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van chaired the first meeting of the Protocol Subcommittee of the APEC 2027 National Committee.

Reporting at the meeting, Director of the State Protocol Department and External Interpretation, Deputy Standing Head of the Subcommittee Le Cong Dung stated that the Protocol Subcommittee consists of 35 members, with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van serving as the Head of the Protocol Subcommittee.

The Subcommittee members are representatives from nine agencies, including the Office of the President, the Government Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security (Guard Command, Immigration Department), the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and the People's Committee of An Giang Province.

According to the Director of the State Protocol Department and External Interpretation, the Protocol Subcommittee has recently coordinated with the Secretariat and related units to organize a survey delegation in Phú Quốc to inspect preparations at conference centers, accommodation facilities, airports, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, electricity, water, and telecommunications, while also reporting to the Prime Minister.

Additionally, the Standing Unit of the Subcommittee has conducted surveys and consulted on organizing the APEC 2025 Leaders' Week in Gyeongju, South Korea, in November 2025, to aid preparations in the coming period.

After hearing the report from the Director of the State Protocol Department and External Interpretation, along with discussions from members and delegates, Head of the Protocol Subcommittee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngô Lê Văn concluded and outlined key tasks to ensure preparations for the APEC 2027 Leaders' Week.

Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van commended the efforts of the Standing Unit and related units in coordinating the first meeting of the Subcommittee. This is considered an important initial step, allowing members to meet, exchange, agree on task requirements, and identify key tasks for the future. The Deputy Minister also welcomed the full participation and candid, responsible contributions of the delegates.

Emphasizing the large scale of work and the urgent implementation timeline, the Head of the Subcommittee urged members to be proactive and actively engage in promptly executing assigned tasks. The Standing Unit is tasked with swiftly completing comprehensive plans and proposals, ensuring progress and quality.

To concretize tasks, the Deputy Minister assigned the Standing Unit of the Protocol Subcommittee to fully incorporate feedback from the meeting, promptly develop working regulations, implementation timelines, and clearly assign responsibilities among units. Additionally, a synchronized and tight information mechanism should be established to create seamless coordination and harness collective strength.

Moreover, the Subcommittee requested coordination with the Secretariat to soon organize a survey delegation in Phú Quốc to assess infrastructure and facility preparations for the event. Based on the survey results, units will timely advise on professional, efficient, and synchronized protocol and logistics plans.

With these directives, the Protocol Subcommittee affirms its determination to enhance preparations, contributing to the success of the APEC 2027 Leaders' Week, thereby promoting the image of a dynamic, friendly, and professional Vietnam on the international stage.
