Specifically, the environmental protection deposit aims to ensure that scrap importers bear the responsibility for handling possible environmental pollution risks arising from the imported scrap.

Organisations and individuals importing scrap shall make deposit at the Vietnam Environmental Protection Fund or the local environmental protection fund or the credit institution where they open a transaction account.

The deposit is made in accordance with each shipment or each contract with information and value of the imported scrap shipment.
