Nearly 14,000 people paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum on National Day.

According to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board, the figure included 349 foreigners, who patiently joined a line to show respect to Vietnam’s beloved President.

More than 200 competitors from 18 teams from Da Nang and Quang Nam province competed in the annual Traditional Boat Race on the Han River on September 2.

The race, which celebrates the 72nd National Day, saw sea teams racing in the men’s 7.5km and the women’s 5km events along the river between the Thuan Phuoc and Rong (Dragon) bridges.

Musical performances and entertainment have also been staged on the Han River bank and East Sea Park on National Day.

A similar boat race was also held in the central province of Quang Binh on September 2.

The event drew the participation of over 1,000 competitors from 24 men’s and women’s teams.

The first prize went to Dai Phong hamlet (Phong Thuy commune), while the second and third prizes were presented to An Xa hamlet (Loc Thuy commune) and Loc An hamlet (An Thuy commune), respectively.

On the same day, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union held a collective wedding for 100 couples who are working in industrial parks, export processing zones and other facilities in the city and adjacent areas.

The move aims to support low-incomes couples and those who suffer from labour accidents, unemployment and serious diseases and disabilities in celebrating their special life event.

Each couple was also presented with a pair of wedding rings, a wedding dress and suit, a wedding photo album, and celebrative services, together with free health care voucher with a year of validity. A couple facing extreme difficult living conditions was also gifted with an apartment worth VND20 million.

At the same time, the couples were also offered free training courses on skills to build a happy family.

So far, more than 700 couples have benefited from the mass wedding programme which was launched in 2006.

The event also afforded ethnic minority groups and H’Mong ethnic group in particular a chance to exchange and tighten solidarity as well as enrich their cultures.

Visitors to the event could enjoy pan-pine melodies, folk songs and games of ethnic minority groups on Dong Van Karst Plateau.

The H’Mong pan-pine festival opened in Dong Van district, the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, on September 1, attracting hundreds of artists.
