“Spring Colours across the Homeland” 2026: Celebrating the cultural diversity of 54 ethnic groups

WVR - From February 27 to March 1, the "Spring Colours across the Homeland" 2026 event will take place at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, organized by the Department of Ethnic Culture, under Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This annual cultural program holds significant meaning, contributing to the celebration, preservation, and promotion of the beautiful traditional cultural values of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups. It also fosters interaction and strengthens national unity in the early days of the New Year.

Taking place over three days with a variety of activities, the event recreates the distinctive spring festival atmosphere of different regions across the country. Throughout the program, "Spring Festivals" are held daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the ethnic village areas.

Here, ethnic communities will showcase traditional culture through folk singing and dancing performances, introduce folk knowledge, demonstrate traditional crafts, and present unique products such as brocade, ethnic musical instruments, and regional cuisine.

Many familiar folk games such as bamboo dancing, stilt walking, shuttlecock throwing, and yến playing are also organized, creating a lively atmosphere rich in cultural identity.

The highlight of the event is the series of activities on February 28 with the participation of Party and State leaders. In the morning, delegates will attend the Te-Ve-Da procession ceremony of the Khmer people and offer incense at the Khmer pagoda complex; participate in the program "Songs Celebrating the Glorious Party, Celebrating the Nation's Spring" and extend New Year greetings to ethnic communities.

Party and State leaders will also participate in the harvest and peace prayer ceremonies during the Central Highlands Village Festival at the E De ethnic village and conduct a tree-planting ceremony in the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.

In the afternoon and throughout March 1, many unique exchange programs will continue, such as "Highland Spring Colours", "Spring in the Villages", and the Central Highlands music space "Echoes of the Great Forest".

Here, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy gong performances, learn about traditional coffee roasting activities, weaving, statue carving, as well as explore exhibition spaces showcasing cultural, tourism images, and local specialties.

Notably, cultural exchange activities and regional heritage introductions will gather many unique art forms such as the Khmer drum dance and big drum music from Ca Mau, the art of don ca tai tu (singing), Dong Thap folk songs, and the Ngu tro Vien Khe from Thanh Hoa.

Additionally, the field festival of the San Chay ethnic group (Phu Tho) and the re-enactment of the Gia Rai people's health blessing ceremony further enrich the colorful cultural tapestry.

Alongside the performances, the organizers will also introduce themed exhibition spaces "80 Years – A Confident Vietnam" and "Cultural Colours of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups", highlighting the country's developmental journey and honoring enduring cultural values forged over generations.

With its rich content and vibrant presentation, "Spring Colours Across the Homeland" 2026 is not only an occasion for ethnic communities to meet and interact but also a meaningful cultural rendezvous for both domestic and international visitors at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in the early days of the New Year.
