On the afternoon of April 2, during the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a reporter requested the Spokesperson to elaborate on measures to ensure fuel supply amid recent fluctuations.
The Ministry's Spokesperson stated that recently, in light of escalating tensions in the Middle East, relevant ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, have been acutely aware of their responsibilities. They have been actively and urgently implementing the close directives of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to minimize the impacts of the conflict on Vietnam.
According to Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, and other relevant ministries, has been regularly monitoring, assessing, and forecasting the situation. They have provided numerous reports evaluating the situation and advising on measures to avoid being caught off guard and to respond promptly and effectively when conflicts arise.
Simultaneously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed Vietnamese representative missions abroad to closely monitor the situation and carry out tasks amid continuous tensions. To date, all Vietnamese diplomatic missions in conflict areas have remained on the ground, consistently providing information and performing tasks within their authority, especially in citizen protection efforts.
Spokesperson Hang stated that within its functional scope, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has proactively and regularly updated information on developments and policy adjustments of other countries to promptly recommend government solutions for economic management, energy management, and closely coordinate with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and other relevant ministries to engage with partners to enhance trade and investment cooperation and support each other in addressing the current situation.
“Recently, Vietnam has implemented high-level energy diplomacy activities as well as at various levels. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also instructed Vietnamese representative missions abroad to proactively engage with local authorities, local businesses, and foreign enterprises to contribute to this effort,” emphasized the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Spokesperson Hang reaffirmed that in the future, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative missions abroad will continue to coordinate with ministries, sectors, and relevant agencies to strive to fulfill this mission.
Also at the press conference, a reporter requested the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express Vietnam's stance on ensuring maritime freedom and safety. Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized that Vietnam always pays attention to ensuring maritime security and safety in the seas and reaffirms the consistent stance on the importance of adhering to international law to ensure maritime security and safety for peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
