SG Community Cares: Singapore businesses stand with Vietnam in face of Typhoon Yagi

WVR - Singapore businesses in Vietnam, in coordination with the Singapore Embassy in Vietnam, have come together under an “SG Community Cares” initiative to support the victims of Typhoon Yagi.

Typhoon Yagi is the most severe storm to hit Vietnam in decades, causing widespread destruction, suffering and the tragic loss of lives from flooding and landslides. The Singapore companies have pledged a total of 1.5 billion VND to support relief and recovery efforts in a demonstration of solidarity with and compassion for the Vietnamese people.

The Singapore companies contributing to this important cause include: CapitaLand Development (Vietnam), Keppel, Mapletree, Sea Limited, Sembcorp Industries, United Overseas Bank (Vietnam), and YCH Group.

Welcoming the impactful contribution, Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam said, “I am very proud to see Singapore businesses come together to lend support to Vietnam in such a meaningful way. Typhoon Yagi has had a devastating impact on so many lives across Northern Vietnam. Singapore stands in solidarity with our friends in Vietnam at a difficult time for them.”

The Singapore Embassy in Hanoi is working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam to connect with relevant parties regarding the disbursement of donations to those affected.
