Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Supachai Patumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand (MHESI), and Mr. Yuthaporn Pirunsarn, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Province, both affirmed that innovation is a key driver for economic growth, enhancing national competitiveness, and sustainable development.
Northeast Thailand serves as a central hub in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), with advantages in geographical location, higher education systems, high-quality human resources, and a robust innovation ecosystem.
This year's conference showcases hundreds of research projects, initiatives, and creative products across various fields such as technology, biomedicine, design, fashion, cultural industries, agriculture, tourism, and digital transformation. It also creates an academic forum connecting universities, businesses, investors, and international organizations.
In his speech at the conference, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized the special significance of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (August 6, 1976 - August 6, 2026).
The recent official visits by the highest-level leaders of the two countries demonstrate the continuously strengthened political trust and the increasingly substantive Vietnam-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening up numerous opportunities for cooperation in various fields.

Accordingly, investment cooperation in innovative economic development in Northeast Thailand, connecting with the GMS region, has many favorable conditions.
Northeast Thailand is a vital trade artery along the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC), directly connecting Thailand's logistics centers with Laos and Vietnam's seaports. Currently, road connectivity is relatively convenient, especially on the Thai side.
In the near future, the opening of direct flights between Northeast Thailand and Vietnam will strongly promote the "3 connections" initiative between the two economies, creating more favorable conditions and helping the region to "take off".
Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh also highly appreciated the role of educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in bridging the gap between countries in terms of language and cultural differences.
The upcoming inauguration of the Vietnam Studies Center at Khon Kaen University will be an important step forward, contributing to enhancing understanding and building a sustainable foundation to promote cooperation between Vietnam, Thailand, and the region.
