MOFA receives copy of Credentials appointing Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Tshering W. Sherpa

WVR - On the afternoon of November 3, in Hanoi, Pham Binh Dam, Director General of the Directorate of State Protocol and Interpretation, received Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa, who presented a copy of the credentials appointing the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam.

At the reception, Pham Binh Dam congratulated Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa on his appointment as the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam. He expressed confidence that during his tenure, Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa will act as a bridge, contributing to strengthening and deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries.

The Director General emphasized that the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has maintained a foundation of mutual friendship and trust for over 50 years. Cooperation in various fields has achieved positive results. Vietnam looks forward to sharing strategic perspectives and interests with India, as well as developing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to bring practical benefits to the people of both nations, while contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the Asia-Pacific and globally.

Expressing his honour at being appointed Ambassador to Vietnam, and appreciating Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and its growing international role, Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa affirmed his commitment to fostering substantive and effective cooperation between India and Vietnam, for the benefit of the people of both countries, and for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa has been with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs since 2002. Previously, he served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Captain rank) in New Delhi. He has had postings at the Indian Embassies in South Korea, Nepal, and Japan. His most recent overseas assignment was as Deputy Ambassador to Israel. Mr. Sherpa is fluent in English, Hindi, Nepali, and can speak Korean.
