Speaking at the opening ceremony, Thai Ambassador Nikorndej Balabkura said his country is Vietnam’s biggest trading partner in ASEAN with bilateral trade reaching about 21.5 billion USD in 2022, up 2.8 billion USD compared to the previous year.

He expressed his hope that the two countries can elevate trade value to 25 billion USD by 2025 as stated by leaders of the two sides.

For his part, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Khang said the event holds a great significance in bolstering the relations and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand in general and Quang Ninh with Thai localities in particular, while promoting trade activities and development in the new context.

The event features 71 booths run by 61 Thai enterprises, representative offices and distribution agents in Vietnam.

On display are a variety of quality products from Thailand, including food and beverages, household products, garments, jewelries, health and beauty products, decorative items and souvenirs, travel services and more.

Mini Thailand Week 2023 aims to promote bilateral trade activities between Vietnamese importers and Thai exporters, and enhance mutual understanding between the two countries.

The event, which will run until March 19, is being held by the Quang Ninh Exhibition of Planning and Expo Centre, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), the Office of Commercial Affairs under the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi, the Royal Thai Government in cooperation with the Vietnam National Trade Fair, and the Advertising company (Vinexad) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
