Launch of the nation's first English-language external television channel
The External Television Channel - Vietnam Today will officially broadcast from September 7, offering global audiences an objective and vibrant picture of Vietnam today: from current affairs, politics, economy, culture, tourism, environment to innovation and digital transformation.

Vietnam Today is the national External Television Channel produced and broadcast by VTV, established under Decision No. 747/QĐ-TTg dated April 11, 2025, by the Prime Minister to provide national external television services promoting Vietnam to the world.
The channel is tasked with disseminating information and promoting the Party's guidelines, State policies, and laws, enhancing external information, and promoting the image of Vietnam and its people globally. It introduces the unique values, traditional identity, and modern outlook of the country, reflecting Vietnam's journey of development and deep integration with the world.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Duc Hoang, Deputy General Director of VTV, affirmed that the official launch of the national External Television Channel has been a long-standing aspiration of VTV's broadcasters.

He stated: "Vietnam Today was created with the desire to be more than just a television channel; it is an information window for the world to understand, feel, and connect with Vietnam. It is a place where the world can fully and accurately understand a peaceful, stable, innovative, dynamic, and comprehensively integrated Vietnam".
According to Mr. Do Duc Hoang, Vietnam Today is built on three core principles: authoritative information, sharp content, and creative communication. The channel provides multi-dimensional information about the country across various fields and serves as a platform to connect and promote the national brand and image globally.
Through this, Vietnam Today contributes to expanding international cooperation, creating a bridge between Vietnam and the global community, while affirming the country's position and prestige on the international stage.
"To achieve these expectations, we aim to closely cooperate with ministries, departments, localities, domestic and international media colleagues, and influential figures to jointly explore, produce, and develop content for modern and engaging stories," Mr. Do Duc Hoang emphasized.
According to Mr. Le Hoang Linh, Head of the Political-Economic Department of the External Television Division, in the news sector, Vietnam Today has a system of 20 news bulletins at key hours throughout the day, providing 24/7 updates on daily information about Vietnam and the world.
Additionally, there are programs analyzing and commenting on hot global issues, economics, and investment such as Global Insight, Inside Asia, The Point, Daily Biz, The Executive Talk, Local Towards Global, among others.
Vietnam Today dedicates significant space to exploring and honoring culture with programs like Showtime, Culture Mosaic, Tunebox, Street Food, Taste of Vietnam, Heritage Journey, and more.

| The domestic broadcasting platform for Vietnam Today includes the nationwide digital terrestrial television system of Vietnam Television; VTVCab and SCTV cable television systems; DTH satellite digital television system; OTT applications of Vietnam Today, VTVgo, FPT, VieOn, AVG, Clip TV. Internationally, the channel is broadcast via the OTT applications of VTVgo and Vietnam Today; Toober's OTT application in the Americas and Europe; digital terrestrial television systems in Laos; Unitel's OTT platform in Laos, Metfone in Cambodia, and Mytel in Myanmar. From 2026, VTV will continue to work with partners and television service providers worldwide to transmit the channel in key areas of national external information using popular methods suitable for each country and region, ensuring convenient and effective broadcasting. |
