Costing about 110 million VND (4,300 USD), each house has a living room and two bedrooms, with sufficient electricity and lighting facilities.
Phung Van Dam, a beneficiary in Na Duong town, said his family are very happy to get the new home. Their old one was quite cramped and dilapidated.
Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam said that in response to the programme on eliminating makeshift and dilapidated houses, the ministry provided financial aid worth 20.44 billion VND for building 292 houses, or 70 million VND each. Meanwhile, the remaining fund comes from other sources mobilised by local authorities.
From now to April 30, the ministry and local authorities will help to repair 101 substandard houses in Loc Binh district.
Lam informed that the ministry has assisted with the construction and repair of over 17,800 houses with a total cost exceeding 763 billion VND nationwide.
In 2024 alone, it offered support to build and repair more than 3,000 houses worth over 150 billion VND for poor households, policy beneficiary families, and those from ethnic minority groups across the country.
Vice Chairman of the Lang Son provincial People's Committee Luong Trong Quynh said that under the nationwide movement on eradicating makeshift and dilapidated houses, the province plans to build 951 new houses and repair 1,521 others. So far, 927 houses have been completed.
