The inauguration was attended by Ambassador Bui Le Thai, Vietnam Ambassador to Hungary concurrently accredited to Croatia; Mr. Marko Moric, Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Croatia; representatives from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia; members of the diplomatic corps; officials from the Vietnamese Embassy; and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Croatia. The event marks a new development in the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Croatia.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Bui Le Thai emphasized that the establishment of the Honorary Consulate in Zagreb clearly demonstrates the commitment and determination of the leaders of both countries to expand and deepen bilateral cooperation in all fields.
This is not only a significant milestone in the development of Vietnam-Croatia relations but also a concrete step in implementing the policies of the Vietnamese Party and State regarding overseas Vietnamese. The Ambassador affirmed that the Consulate will serve as a new connection channel, contributing to enhancing people-to-people exchanges, promoting economic - trade, cultural, educational, and tourism ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Bui Le Thai also extended congratulations to Mr. Marko Moric, Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Croatia, expressing confidence that with his reputation, experience, and connection to Vietnam and its people, he will fulfill his responsibilities well, making practical contributions to consular work and promoting bilateral cooperation.

Vietnam and Croatia have maintained stable and effective cooperative relations for over 30 years, spanning various fields such as politics, economy, culture, tourism, and multilateral cooperation. The two countries regularly exchange delegations at all levels, maintain political consultations, and organize numerous people-to-people exchange activities. Bilateral trade has continued to grow in recent years, indicating significant potential for further cooperation.
The inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Zagreb is expected to provide new momentum for both countries to fully exploit cooperation potentials. The Consulate will be a reliable address for supporting Vietnamese citizens in Croatia, while also promoting business connections, investment cooperation, science – technology, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
Honorary Consul Marko Moric affirmed his commitment to making the Consulate a “bridge of friendship, trust, and sustainability” between the people of the two nations.

Ambassador Bui Le Thai affirmed that the Embassy and relevant Vietnamese authorities will closely coordinate and create favorable conditions for the Honorary Consul to fulfill his duties, thereby continuing to strengthen the multifaceted friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Croatia.
At the end of the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cultural program rich in Vietnamese cultural identity, watched video clips, and explored an exhibition space introducing Vietnam's country, people, heritage, and culture, as well as Vietnam's achievements over nearly 40 years of renovation. Attendees also enjoyed tea, coffee, and some Vietnamese specialty dishes. These activities provided a comprehensive cultural experience, contributing to spreading the image of a friendly, rich in identity, integrated, and developing Vietnam to international friends.
