The collective of officials, party members, and staff at the Consulate General agreed to donate one day's salary to share the difficulties with compatriots back home, embodying the spirit of “mutual support” and “the good leaves protect the worn-out leaves” of the Vietnamese people, even when living and working far from the homeland.

Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan expressed: “In recent days, the images of our compatriots in the Central and Northern regions struggling against typhoons, floods, and landslides have touched each of us. Despite being halfway around the world from home, the staff of the Vietnam Consulate General in San Francisco always look towards our compatriots, sharing a small part of our responsibility and affection to help them overcome the aftermath and stabilize their lives soon.”

The Consul General emphasized that the spirit of solidarity and compassion is the source of strength for the Vietnamese nation. Every act of sharing, no matter how small, carries great significance when done with sincerity.

He called on all staff and employees of the representative mission, along with the Vietnamese community on the West Coast of the United States, to continue spreading the spirit of compassion, joining hands to support the homeland, to help alleviate losses, and inspire hope and resilience in the typhoon-hit regions.

Immediately after the launch ceremony, all staff and employees of the Consulate General made direct contributions with a spirit of voluntariness and urgency. All the funds raised will be sent to the official account of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, to be promptly delivered to the flood-affected compatriots impacted by the two storms, Bualoi and Matmo.

Storms Bualoi and Matmo, which consecutively hit the Central and Northern regions in early October, caused prolonged heavy rains, resulting in severe flooding, landslides, thousands of damaged homes, disrupted transportation routes, and upheaval in the lives of residents.

In this context, the spirit of solidarity among Vietnamese people at home and abroad becomes a precious spiritual support helping the people in disaster-stricken areas overcome difficulties.

Concluding the ceremony, Consul General Tuan affirmed: “Today's initiative to donate one day's salary is not only a gesture of material support but also reflects the responsibility and affection of each Vietnamese diplomat abroad towards the homeland. We believe that, along with the efforts of the Government and compatriots nationwide, the joint efforts of the overseas Vietnamese community will contribute to helping localities quickly restore production, stabilize lives, and heal the damages after natural disasters.”

The fundraising event concluded in an atmosphere of solidarity, warmth, and deep emotion – a testament to the profound affection of the staff of the Vietnam Consulate General in San Francisco for their homeland and the belief that in hardship, the spirit of the Vietnamese people will always shine brightly.
