On August 8, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports held a launching ceremony for the information portal promoting activities to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Independence Day (September 2), on the digital platform A80.hanoi.gov.vn and the mobile app “A80 – Pride of Vietnam.”

“A80 – Pride of Vietnam” – a national-level digital cultural product

The creation of the “A80 – Pride of Vietnam” digital ecosystem is not just about building an electronic information portal, but about creating an “intelligent assistant” and a “companion” for citizens and visitors in their journey to explore, experience, and immerse themselves in every moment of the celebrations marking 80 years since the August Revolution and Independence Day in the capital.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, emphasized that 2025 marks a historic milestone – 80 years since the glorious autumn of 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at historic Ba Dinh Square, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and ushering in a new era for the nation – the era of independence, freedom, and sacred sovereignty.

In that heroic historical flow, Hanoi – the heart of the nation – has not only witnessed these monumental moments, but has also been a place where cultural values and patriotic traditions converge and spread. With the responsibility of being the focal point for organizing important commemorative events, Hanoi has been diligently, carefully, and creatively preparing for this grand national celebration.

“The ‘A80 – Pride of Vietnam’ portal and app will serve as a bridge connecting the past, present, and future; a digital space where every citizen can relive, reflect upon, and preserve the sacred values of the nation’s history”.

Carrying this mission, the Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi has developed the “A80 – Pride of Vietnam” ecosystem. This is the official, modern, comprehensive, and only electronic portal for the grand celebrations, integrating multiple smart digital tools to help citizens and visitors easily access, look up, and participate in the largest commemorative activities in the country in 2025.

With an eye-catching design full of emotion and rich in the cultural identity of the capital, the “A80 – Pride of Vietnam” portal is a national-level digital cultural product.

Here, citizens, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends can easily find schedules for parades and processions, art programs, cultural-historical exhibitions; official announcements about event organization, traffic regulation, security, and health services; behind-the-scenes news, beautiful photos, live broadcast videos, and memorable moments shared by the community.

The interface of “A80 – Pride of Vietnam” has been meticulously designed with a modern, vibrant, festive spirit and the rich identity of Thang Long – Hanoi. The two main colors, red and yellow, create warmth, pride, and connection. From the homepage, users are welcomed with images of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence, grand parade formations, and iconic landmarks of the capital such as Ho Guom (Sword Lake), the Hanoi Opera House, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Content categories are arranged clearly and user-friendly. The event list is well-organized into groups, the photo-video library is quickly updated, and the digital map allows users to search for locations in real time. The digital cultural space is further enriched with the section “80 Dep Lam” (“80 is Beautiful”) – a place to share meaningful moments from the community, creating an emotional connection on social media.

Nguyen Thi Mai Huong stressed: “The ‘A80 – Pride of Vietnam’ portal and app will be a bridge between the past, present, and future; a digital space for every citizen to relive, contemplate, and preserve the sacred values of the nation’s history. At the same time, from this platform, we will inspire faith and responsibility in younger generations – so they can follow in the footsteps of their forebears, nurturing and building a stronger, more civilized, and modern country.”

Where tradition meets modern spirit

A80 is a new digital cultural symbol of the capital – a place where thousand-year traditions meet modern creativity. One of A80’s most distinctive features is its ability to integrate technology for practical use. The AI-powered chatbot is programmed as a friendly virtual assistant, ready to recommend suitable events, provide directions, and send reminders. The interactive digital map gives detailed information on event venues, live broadcast points, water stations, restrooms, medical stations, rest areas, and dining locations.

The smart navigation system also helps people avoid congested routes and provides real-time traffic updates. This marks a significant step in applying digital transformation to event organization, enhancing the experience for citizens and visitors alike.

Beyond event management functions, A80 is expected to become a “festival social network” – where everyone can express their love for the country by creating and sharing greeting cards and red flag with yellow star avatars; posting photos and videos of events they attend locally; and following, interacting, and sharing emotions in the “80 Dep Lam” section. Through this digital connection space, the spirit of unity and national pride will be powerfully spread, turning the grand national holiday into an event for all people, globally and comprehensively.

Hanoi – the Creative Capital, City for Peace, and a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network – has always taken the lead in applying technology and fostering innovation in organizing major cultural events. The launch of this electronic portal is a cultural declaration of Hanoi in the digital age – modern, friendly, connected, and rich in identity.

Alongside its title of “City for Peace”, Hanoi continues to affirm its pioneering role in spreading humanistic values and encouraging active public participation in the country’s significant events. The “A80 – Pride of Vietnam” portal is clear proof of a Hanoi that is innovative, integrated with the world, yet proudly preserving the thousand-year cultural essence.
