In his opening remarks, journalist and photographer Vu Nhat Thang emphasised that the competition and exhibition offered journalists and photographers an opportunity to reflect on moments captured in the course of their work, while introducing the public to works of significant journalistic and artistic value.

Through photographs taken across the country, the exhibition portrays the diversity of contemporary life, from mountainous regions to urban centres, and from fields and factories to cultural and tourism destinations and community activities.

Each photograph offers a distinct perspective on the people, landscapes and ongoing changes shaping the country, highlighting the role of press photography in documenting reality and preserving meaningful moments.

Announcing the competition results, journalist Ha Hong, a member of the Press Photography Club’s Executive Committee and Head of the Competition and Exhibition Organising Committee, said the event had attracted 175 photographers from the club’s branches, with a total of 1,336 entries, comprising 1,228 single photographs and 108 photo series.

According to Mr. Ha Hong, the value of press photography lies not only in composition, lighting and the ability to capture a decisive moment, but also in the information conveyed and the stories told through each image.

Captions play an important role in clarifying the events, people and contexts depicted.

In a photo series, the connection between individual frames creates a coherent narrative, helping audiences gain a fuller understanding of the story being told.

As imaging technology and artificial intelligence (AI) continue to advance rapidly, authenticity remains a fundamental principle of press photography.

Under the competition rules, entries using AI to alter the content or nature of an event would not be accepted, helping to safeguard the accuracy and credibility of the information presented.
