Guangdong steps up business connectivity, expands cooperation with Vietnam

The conference aimed to introduce Vietnam's investment and business environment while strengthening connections and promoting cooperation between the Vietnamese and Guangdong business communities.

Speaking at the conference, Commercial Consul at the Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou Pham Chi Cuong said economic and trade relations between Vietnam and China have continued to develop positively, with Vietnam-Guangdong cooperation expanding in both scale and scope in recent years.

Beyond trade, businesses from both sides are strengthening cooperation in supporting industries, infrastructure, logistics, technology, materials manufacturing and modern services. Guangdong enterprises are also among the largest Chinese investors operating in Vietnam.

At the conference, Mr. Pham Chi Cuong presented an overview of Vietnam-China trade and investment cooperation in recent years and highlighted the advantages of Vietnam's investment and business environment. He stressed that Vietnam's highly open economy and extensive network of free trade agreements provide favourable conditions for businesses investing and producing in the country to access ASEAN and other international markets.

Vietnam is accelerating institutional reforms, developing a highly skilled workforce and improving infrastructure, while promoting digital and green transformation, science and technology and innovation. The country prioritises investment projects featuring advanced technologies, modern management, environmental sustainability and the potential to generate spillover effects for the domestic economy.

For Guangdong, Mr. Luu Phong, Executive Chairman of the Guangdong Commercial Federation, said Vietnam is becoming an important destination for Chinese businesses seeking to expand their international operations. The two economies are highly complementary, particularly in production and supply chains.

The Guangdong Commercial Federation will continue to organise business networking activities, supporting Guangdong enterprises in exploring the Vietnamese market and seeking partners in Vietnam.

As part of upcoming trade promotion activities, Mr. Pham Chi Cuong introduced the 2026 International Supply Chain Connection event (VIS 2026), scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from 3-5 September. He also invited Guangdong businesses to attend the event, thereby strengthening connections and exploring cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese enterprises.

The Guangdong Commercial Federation also said it plans to organise a business delegation to attend the event, creating further opportunities for Guangdong enterprises to connect with Vietnamese partners and promote bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

The Vietnam-Guangdong Trade and Investment Promotion Conference contributed to enhancing the exchange of information on markets, policies and investment environments, while expanding channels for business connectivity and creating further foundations for stronger economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Guangdong.
