On the morning of October 21, during the official visit to Finland by General Secretary To Lam and his spouse at the invitation of Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his spouse, Madame Ngo Phuong Ly and Madame Suzanne Innes-Stubb visited the Oodi Central Library in Helsinki, Finland.
Madame Ly and Madame Stubb toured various sections including exhibition areas, reading spaces, the Book Heaven – “Paradise of Books”, film screenings, art exhibitions, workshops, artistic creations, science and technology exploration, group work, play areas, and event spaces for all ages, families, and especially children.
Introducing the formation, architecture, and prominent activities of the Oodi Library, Director Anna-Maria Soininvaara stated that it is one of Finland's most modern cultural projects, considered a symbol of open knowledge and a creative community space for the people of Helsinki.

Madame Ly expressed her delight at visiting Oodi Library – a creative cultural space, thanked Madame Stubb and the Library's leadership for their warm welcome, and was very impressed with the library's layout and extensive, modern collection.
Madame Ngo Phuong Ly shared that in the context of rapidly developing science, technology, and information media, knowledge can be accessed through many platforms. However, Oodi Library maintains its mission as a center of creativity, knowledge sharing, and community connection, and she sees it as a unique model for Vietnam to reference.

Vietnamese people have long valued reading as an essential part of their journey of knowledge and character development. Therefore, Madame Ly was particularly impressed with Finland's policy and education system, where books and knowledge are not only preserved but also spread, inspiring creativity and promoting community development.
On this occasion, Madame Ly, on behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, presented the Oodi Library with a collection of Vietnamese Books consisting of over 120 selected titles, nearly 160 Vietnamese and bilingual books across four main themes.

Literature and art books include classic Vietnamese literary works, modern short stories, poetry collections, and Vietnamese fairy tales, helping foreign readers and overseas Vietnamese children understand more about the Vietnamese language and soul.
Books on Vietnamese history and culture introduce the journey of nation-building and defense, cultural figures, customs, and tangible and intangible heritage recognized by UNESCO.
Contemporary Vietnam – integration and development books include bilingual publications introducing Vietnam's country and people during the period of renewal and international integration, along with publications on diplomacy, education, science, technology, environment, and sustainable development.

Books for children and Vietnamese language learning, a special collection aimed at the young Vietnamese community in Finland, include translated works of famous Finnish literature, comics, bilingual picture books, and extended reading materials to preserve and spread the Vietnamese language among the second and third generations of overseas Vietnamese.
The Vietnamese Book collection is located in the Book Heaven – Paradise of Books area on the third floor of the Library, alongside other foreign language book collections. This will be the first Vietnamese reading corner in the Helsinki public library system, open free to the public and the Vietnamese community in Finland.

Madame Ngo Phuong Ly emphasized that Oodi Library's dedication of a prestigious space to receive the "Vietnamese Bookcase", a book collection, is a vivid testament to Finland's openness, respect, and appreciation for cultural diversity. She hopes that from this initial bookcase, more books and cultural exchange programs will be organized not only in Finland but also in many other countries around the world where Vietnamese people live. These will be sustainable "bridges of knowledge", nurturing understanding, respect, and friendship among nations.
Finnish President's spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb thanked Madame Ngo Phuong Ly for the gift, emphasizing that the Vietnamese Book collection holds a very special significance, contributing to enhancing understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
Library Director Anna-Maria Soininvaara expressed deep gratitude for Madame Ngo Phuong Ly's meaningful gift, considering it a testament to the friendship and people-to-people exchange between the two countries. She affirmed that Oodi Library will cherish, introduce, and maintain the "Vietnamese Bookcase" as part of the library's multilingual space.
