At the working meeting, Mr Pham Vinh Thai, Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Education Publishing House, presented an overview of the publisher’s activities and proposed directions for future cooperation.

Mr Thai shared that the Publishing House has established Vietnamese book collections in seven countries and wishes to expand this model to various Russian provinces and cities, where many Vietnamese people currently reside. As a concrete step, the Publishing House has donated a number of Vietnamese children’s books and language textbooks to the library, laying the foundation for the creation of a “Vietnamese Book Corner” at the world’s largest library dedicated to children in Moscow.

Ms Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, noted that in a country where reading is deeply ingrained in the culture and libraries serve as important cultural venues, promoting Vietnamese culture in such a setting will have a strong and far-reaching impact. She highly appreciated and fully supported the cooperation initiatives proposed by the Vietnam Education Publishing House.

Both sides agreed that this initiative represents a strategic and promising direction, in line with the development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia. The Embassy will facilitate and support the Publishing House in implementing these projects, helping bring Vietnamese culture and education closer to Russian friends while meeting the learning and research needs of the Vietnamese community abroad.

“Focusing on children - the future generation - this cooperation is more than just a book donation; it is an act of planting the seeds of knowledge and nurturing the enduring friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Russia. The books we share today will help build a solid foundation for a prosperous and lasting relationship in the future”, Ms Tuyet Hoa emphasised.

According to Ms Tuyet Hoa, establishing a Vietnamese cultural club, organising Vietnamese reading sessions, and hosting activities introducing Vietnamese culture will attract not only Vietnamese children but also Russian families interested in learning more about Vietnam.

This initiative is expected to open a new chapter in Vietnam-Russia cultural exchange, marking the first time that Vietnamese reading culture and language have been introduced systematically at one of Russia’s most significant cultural institutions for children. It will serve as a bridge between the two cultures and help nurture the long-standing Vietnam-Russia friendship among the future generation of global citizens.

Founded in 1969, the Russian State Children’s Library is the largest children’s library in the world. With over 55 years of history, it is located in a modern building on Kaluzhskaya Square, covering an area of 9,000 square metres. The library houses 17 specialised reading rooms and serves more than 45,000 regular readers annually.

Beyond its collection of over 700,000 documents, the library also functions as a leading cultural and educational centre, hosting more than 60 clubs, creative workshops and hundreds of cultural events each year.
