General Secretary To Lam and spouse arrive in Helsinki to begin an official visit to Finland
WVR - At exactly 6:30 PM on October 20, local time, the special aircraft carrying General Secretary To Lam and his spouse, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, landed at the airport in Helsinki's capital, starting their official visit to Finland at the invitation of President Alexander Stubb.

After a flight lasting over 10 hours, General Secretary To Lam and his spouse, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived in Finland.
At the airport, Mr. Mika Koskinen, Director General of the Protocol Department of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Pekka Juhani Voutilaine, Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam, welcomed General Secretary To Lam and his spouse along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation for their official visit to Finland .
This is the first visit by a General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam to Finland since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973. The visit is an important event, marking a new milestone in the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.

This official visit to Finland reflects Vietnam's consistent policy of valuing relations with the beautiful Nordic country, a potential partner with a leading position in the European Union (EU) in innovation, education, green transition, and knowledge economy.
Vietnam and Finland established relations in January 1973. In 1974, the Finnish Embassy in Hanoi was established, and Vietnam opened its Embassy in Helsinki in 2005.
General Secretary To Lam will engage in numerous significant activities, demonstrating the depth, strategic vision, and comprehensive nature of the bilateral relations between the two countries. He will hold talks and meetings with Finnish leaders to extensively discuss the development direction of Vietnam-Finland relations in the new phase, as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern. The leaders are expected to witness the signing and exchange of several bilateral cooperation documents, opening up new cooperation opportunities in sustainable development, green agriculture, and circular economy.

General Secretary To Lam will also work with a number of prominent Finnish economic and educational institutions and meet with Vietnamese students studying there. These activities clearly demonstrate Vietnam's vision in cooperating on innovation and developing high-quality human resources.
The General Secretary is also expected to have a cordial meeting with the Vietnamese community not only in Finland but also in the Nordic region, reflecting the high-level leadership's attention for overseas Vietnamese and affirming the Party and State's policy that the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation.
Additionally, as part of the visit, the Vietnamese Embassy in Finland will organize a concert featuring the Helsinki Metropolitan Orchestra and People's Artist Bui Cong Duy. This is a unique cultural exchange activity, showcasing the spirit of connection and honouring the artistic values of Vietnam and Finland.
