French Institute brings world-famous contemporary dance performance to Vietnam
The performance "Duyen ngay no dem" boldly combines various art forms such as acrobatics, gymnastics, b-boying, hip-hop, contemporary dance, and ballet.

This is one of the contemporary dance works that has made a significant impact on many major international stages, thanks to its unique blend of physical technique, visual art, and cultural depth.

First premiered within the framework of Marseille-Provence – European Capital of Culture, "Duyen ngay no dem" quickly became one of Hervé Koubi's signature works.

The dance is inspired by the novel of the same name by author Yasmina Khadra and reflects the choreographer's journey to rediscover his Algerian roots.

Through the language of dance, the piece raises questions about identity, memory, cultural heritage, and the intersection of cultures. It is not only a technically rich performance but also an artistic space for dialogue and connection between tradition and modernity.

The uniqueness of "Duyen ngay no dem" lies in its bold combination of various art forms such as acrobatics, gymnastics, b-boying, hip-hop, contemporary dance, and ballet.

The body movements are pushed to the limit with impressive lifts, jumps, and spins, creating a strong visual effect that remains rich in poetry.

The performance gathers 14 talented dancers, most of whom come from the street dance and hip-hop community. Under Hervé Koubi's guidance, the spirit of street dance is transformed into a refined contemporary dance language, inspired by Eastern aesthetics and Islamic architecture.

The constantly changing formations and interwoven body shapes create multiple layers of stage imagery that are both majestic and rich in meditation.

According to a representative of the French Institute in Vietnam, "Duyen ngay no dem" is a noteworthy event for those who love dance and hip-hop. The piece captivates audiences not only with its masterful performance techniques but also with its profound ideas and strong emotional connection.

Choreographer Hervé Koubi is considered one of the prominent figures in contemporary French dance today. He was trained at the Rosella Hightower International Dance Center in Cannes and is renowned for his creative and humane choreography style.

In 2015, he was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture in recognition of his outstanding contributions to French art and culture on an international scale.

According to the plan, the performance will be introduced to Vietnamese audiences on June 17 at the Hue Festival in Hue City; on June 19 at Ben Thanh Theater; and on June 21 at Tuoi Tre Theater.
