The 26-episode TV series was produced by Malaysian film company Produksi Seni 2020 and its Vietnamese partner in more than a year. Most of its scenes were shot in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City and Malaysia’s Klang Valley.

According to its producer Wendy Wong, Moonlight Saigon is a love story depicting Vietnamese and Malaysian cultures and aiming to foster bilateral relations of the countries.

She said the film-making process encountered various difficulties but good collaboration between the sides led to a successful outcome.

At the press conference, Malaysian Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Eddin Syazlee Shith praised the cooperation, saying it will help communications and entertainment companies of the two countries expand their joint projects.

He said he expects the cooperation with Vietnam to lay the ground for similar activities with other ASEAN member states.

Tran Minh Hoan, chief representative of Vietnam Airlines in Kuala Lumpur, said the Vietnamese carrier is proud to play a part in the project in contribution to the growth of Vietnam – Malaysia ties. Vietnam Airlines sponsored the film crew’s costs of travelling and equipment transportation.

Moonlight Saigon is scheduled to be screened on the Malaysian national television’s TV2 channel in October at 7pm (local time) from Monday to Friday.
