“Telling” numbers
According to a press release from Vietnam Electricity (EVN), in October 2026, the total power production and import of the system reached 31.58 billion kWh, an increase of 14.3% compared to the same period in 2025.
Cumulatively, in the first 10 months of 2026, the total power output of the system reached 297.4 billion kWh. During the same period, the transmitted power output was estimated at 239.23 billion kWh, up 11.2% compared to the same period.
In the power source mobilization structure for 10 months, coal-fired power continued to hold the largest share with 147.78 billion kWh, equivalent to 49.7% of the total output. Following is hydropower with 73.39 billion kWh, accounting for 24.7%; gas turbines reached 23.28 billion kWh, accounting for 7.8%. Renewable energy sources contributed 40.72 billion kWh, accounting for 13.7%, with solar power at 24.04 billion kWh and wind power at 15.37 billion kWh. Imported electricity reached 11.77 billion kWh, accounting for 4%.
Alongside the task of power supply, EVN continues to direct and urge units to implement construction investment tasks according to the annual plan, particularly focusing on investing in key power source and grid projects.
The Quang Trach I Thermal Power Project, consisting of two units with a total capacity of 1,403 MW, has been basically completed, with electricity output to the national grid reaching 620 million kWh. The goal is to achieve commercial operation from both units in 2026.
The Quang Trach II LNG Project, with a total capacity of 1,612.8 MW, has commenced and is progressing according to contract terms. The Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Project, with a capacity of 1,200 MW, has signed a contract for the supply of electromechanical equipment. At the Tri An Hydropower Expansion Project, with a capacity of 200 MW, construction and equipment installation are being simultaneously implemented; the Hieu Liem Bridge is targeted for acceptance and use before November 30, 2026.
Regarding the power grid, in the past 10 months, EVN and its units have commenced 150 projects and completed energizing 137 power grid projects from 110 kV to 500 kV. Among them, the AT1 500kV-900MVA transformer at the 500kV Di Linh Substation Capacity Enhancement Project has been accepted and energized; three projects serving the APEC 2027 Conference in Phu Quoc have been energized, including the 220kV Phu Quoc Substation; the 110kV Phu Quoc - Nam Phu Quoc and Phu Quoc - Bac Phu Quoc transmission lines.

Electricity sector milestones on VneID
Alongside infrastructure investment, EVN's customer service is increasingly innovating and digitizing. A significant milestone is the introduction of the EVN Customer Service Page (EVN CSKH) application and the customer service hotline 1558, followed by the establishment of the EVN Customer Service Page (EVN CSKH), integrated on EVN's comprehensive information portal (https://www.evn.com.vn/), displayed as a level 1 menu “EVN and Customers”. The EVN CSKH page is EVN's digital customer experience platform, designed with consistent business features, integrating all the utilities of the EVN CSKH App.
Notably, 12 public electricity services have officially been deployed on the VNeID application nationwide. These services include new power supply from low-voltage and medium-voltage grids; changes in entity, purpose, usage quota; extension, termination of power purchase contracts; changes in the location of metering devices, power usage capacity, contract registration information; power supply suspension and resumption upon request.
The provision of 12 public electricity services on the VneID application contributes to completing EVN's multi-channel, online customer service ecosystem, aiming to simplify customer experience.

Key tasks for the end of the year
According to updated calculations from NSMO, the total power production and import of the system in November 2026 is estimated at 28.9 billion kWh (an increase of 14.4% compared to the same period in 2025).
To ensure power supply in all situations and meet the country's growth targets, EVN requires units to proactively plan operations, ensure supply, and minimize the risk of incidents in the final months of the year.
For hydropower, units must regularly monitor weather and hydrological developments; coordinate with local authorities and management agencies to develop response plans for the adverse impacts of El Nino.
Simultaneously, coordinate with NSMO to efficiently use water resources, striving to raise reservoir water levels to normal levels by the end of the year, ensuring power supply in the subsequent period.
For thermal power, EVN requires maintaining operational readiness, ready to mobilize as requested by NSMO to support hydropower reservoir water accumulation; enhance equipment inspection and maintenance, minimize incidents and capacity reduction due to subjective causes.
Regarding power source investment, EVN directs and urges contractors to increase mobilization of manpower, materials, equipment, and machinery at construction sites; organize a review of the overall and detailed progress of each item, arrange continuous and scientific construction, ensuring safety and quality; and proactively coordinate with relevant parties to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles to accelerate construction progress, striving to complete progress milestones as planned.
In terms of grid construction, EVN focuses on energizing the entire 220 kV transmission line from Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant to Long Thanh 500 kV Substation. The Northern Power Corporation accelerates the installation of battery energy storage systems (BESS), aiming for a total scale of 805 MW. The Southern Power Corporation ensures the progress of power supply projects for Phu Quoc serving APEC 2027.
EVN also urges citizens and customers to use electricity economically, limit the simultaneous operation of multiple high-capacity devices during peak hours, contributing to reducing the risk of incidents and limiting high electricity bill increases.
