Organized by Trade Estonia, part of Enterprise Estonia, together with the Estonian Embassy to Vietnam, the mission aims to enhance Estonia’s international competitiveness, foster entrepreneurial growth, and explore collaboration opportunities between ICT industries of both countries. The delegation is led by Ambassador of Estonia to Vietnam Hannes Hanso, and includes representatives from Estonian ICT companies, Trade Estonia, and the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In an event introducing the delegation (November 5), the Estonian ambassador to Vietnam Hannes Hanso remarks:“Estonia is globally known as the digital nation where 99% of government services are provided to the citizens online and where the government has been paperless for over 15 years. Our government has achieved this result in close cooperation with innovative Estonian IT companies who are now offering their services on all continents.
I am very pleased to be in Vietnam with a business delegation consisting of several first-class Estonian IT enterprises that are interested in cooperating with the government and private sector of Vietnam. I am very hopeful that our visit will benefit both Vietnam and Estonia through the sharing of experiences and making new contacts".
The Estonian delegation will engage in a series of meetings with key representatives from the Vietnamese government, the Vietnam National Innovation Center, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), EuroCham, and the Central and Eastern European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam. The delegation also plans to visit leading Vietnamese Universities and IT corporations such as the National Universities, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), FPT Telecom, GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM, Savvycom, TMA Solutions, etc. Additionally, special and high-level business networking events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will bring together stakeholders, organizations, and industry leaders from both countries.

Estonia is recognized as one of the most digitally advanced countries in the world, having pioneered a digital society that sets a global benchmark. Estonian ICT companies have played a pivotal role in developing this innovative digital infrastructure, and are eager to share their expertise with Vietnam and explore opportunities for collaboration. Estonia’s digital governance and business ecosystem offer a unique and scalable model for driving growth and innovation globally, making their experience highly relevant to Vietnam's ambitious digital transformation efforts.
Previous Estonian business delegations in sectors such as agriculture, food and beverage, and ICT have already paved the way for stronger bilateral cooperation. In 2023, Estonia’s exports to Vietnam amounted to €9.64 million, while imports from Vietnam reached €42 million, with key exports including wood products, pulp materials, and organic chemicals. The potential for growth in trade and cooperation remains significant.
As Vietnam continues its digital development journey, and both countries advance their digital ambitions, this delegation marks a pivotal opportunity to explore synergies between two dynamic tech ecosystems. With Estonia’s experience in building world-class digital infrastructure and Vietnam’s growing technological development, the mission opens the door to future-focused collaborations that can drive innovation across industries.
The digital journey of Estonia began in the early 1990s when the country made a strategic choice to prioritize digital innovation to ensure sustainable growth. Estonian ICT companies have since been integral to the country’s transformation, building and securing advanced online services that make 99% of public services accessible online. This strong collaboration between the government and the private sector has propelled Estonia to become a global leader in digital solutions, and the country now boasts the highest number of unicorn startups per capita, including globally renowned names like Skype, Wise, and Bolt. Estonia ranks 10th globally in ICT services export as a percentage of total exports, with 51% of ICT sector revenue coming from international clients. |
