Deputy PM Nguyen Van Thang to pay a working visit to Switzerland and the Netherlands

WVR - On the afternoon of July 23, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang announced that from July 24 to August 1, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang will be on a working visit to Switzerland and the Netherlands.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs further informed that the visit aims to gather insights on the development of international financial centres and to promote cooperation and connections with international organizations, businesses, and experts in finance and investment.

The relationship between Vietnam and Switzerland has seen positive developments recently, with the two countries establishing a Comprehensive Partnership since January 2025; 2026 also marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Switzerland.

Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stressed that Switzerland is one of Vietnam's important bilateral partners in economics, trade, investment, and development aid in Europe.

On July 2, 2026, Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), of which Switzerland is a member, announced the conclusion of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and are moving towards signing the FTA soon, opening up new opportunities for trade and investment cooperation.

Cooperation between the two countries will continue to be promoted in areas such as innovation, finance, sustainable development, high-quality human resource training, science and technology, climate change response, digital transformation, digital finance, and green finance.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that the Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and the Netherlands also continues to develop positively. The Netherlands is a leading trade partner and investor in the EU for Vietnam.

Recently, both sides have strengthened cooperation in areas such as transportation, infrastructure, logistics, semiconductor technology, education and training, and expanding local cooperation.

During the visit, in Switzerland, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang will chair a seminar with major Swiss investment funds; meet with leaders of monetary and financial regulatory agencies, as well as businesses, associations, financial corporations, and banks.

In the Netherlands, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang will work with regulatory agencies on market, economics, and finance, and meet with leaders of some prominent businesses.
