During the meeting, Deputy Minister Tuan welcomed Mr. Oleg Postnikov on his first visit to Vietnam and appreciated the outcomes of the consultations between the two sides. He expressed delight at the positive and comprehensive development of the Vietnam–Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially highlighting the strategic significance of General Secretary To Lam's visit to Russia in May 2025, which affirmed political trust and created new momentum for bilateral relations.
Emphasizing Vietnam's commitment to its traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia, the Deputy Minister also proposed that both sides continue to strengthen and deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly by enhancing coordination and exchanges at the United Nations and other multilateral forums to contribute meaningfully to global peace, security, and development.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Tuan thanked Russia for supporting Vietnam in assuming the role of Chair of the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in 2026 and expressed readiness to closely collaborate to ensure the success of the Conference.
Expressing his pleasure at visiting Vietnam for the first time, Mr. Oleg Postnikov thanked Vietnam for the warm reception extended to his delegation and appreciated the positive results achieved through departmental-level consultations on disarmament with the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry. He noted that the strong and trustworthy relationship between the two countries is guided by strategic directions from the highest leadership. Mr. Oleg Postnikov affirmed that Russia will continue to promote and closely cooperate with Vietnam both bilaterally and multilaterally, including supporting Vietnam in its role as Chair of the 11th NPT Review Conference in 2026.
On this occasion, both sides shared insights and assessments on international and regional situations, reaffirming their common stance in support of multilateralism, the central role of the United Nations in global governance, and respect for the UN Charter, while working towards shared goals of disarmament, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and sustainable peace, security, and development.
