Football unites Vietnamese community, supporting the construction of Dai An Pagoda in Tokyo
WVR - On July 26, at Redsland Stadium (Saitama City, Japan), the final round of the 4th FAVIJA Charity Cup, a charity football tournament to raise funds for the construction of Dai An Temple in Tokyo, successfully took place in a vibrant atmosphere filled with sportsmanship and compassion.

Not only serving as a playground to enhance interaction and connection among the Vietnamese community in Japan, this year's tournament also holds special significance as it launches a fundraising campaign to build Dai An Temple in Tokyo. This spiritual project is expected to become a spiritual support for the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in Japan.
The tournament was organized by the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA), under the patronage of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and the Saitama City government.
This year, the organizers selected 32 teams from nearly 50 teams of the Vietnamese community in the Kanto region to participate. The teams were divided into 8 groups, competing in a round-robin format from July 5 to select the best teams for the finals.

Mr. Nguyen Van Trang, Head of the Organizing Committee, stated that the tournament not only provides a healthy playground to help improve health for work and study but also contributes to building the image of a dynamic, united, and friendly Vietnamese community in the eyes of local residents. Additionally, it is an opportunity to strengthen compatriot bonds and spread humanitarian values through charitable activities.
At the main stage area, the organizers placed a donation box for players, teams, supporters, and guests to directly contribute to the Dai An Temple Construction Fund.
In the rare cool weather of the Japanese summer, hundreds of Vietnamese expatriates and local residents came to the stadium to watch and cheer for the matches.

After 79 thrilling matches, FC T-Connect Binh Dinh claimed the championship. FC Real Tobama took the runner-up position, while FC J-Connect and FC Uni-co Hai Phong shared third place.
The organizers also awarded individual prizes: the Top Scorer title to player Vo Quang Nam; the Best Goalkeeper title to player Le Quoc Hieu, and the Best Player title to Nguyen Manh Hung. All three players are from FC T-Connect Binh Dinh.
Notably, all prize money from the winning teams and individuals was donated to support the Dai An Temple Construction Fund.

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Do Quang Ba, Chairman of FAVIJA, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, directly handed over more than 1 million yen, equivalent to about 170 million Vietnamese dong, raised through the tournament, to the temple.
Moved by the community's support for the temple construction project, nun Thich Tam Tri, President of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Japan and Abbot of Dai An Temple in Tokyo, expressed deep gratitude to the FAVIJA organizers for their efforts in connecting and maintaining a tournament rich in humanitarian significance.
According to the nun, this is the fourth time the tournament has been organized to raise funds for the temple since the project's inception.

Nun Thich Tam Tri shared: “I am deeply grateful for the golden hearts of all the players and supporters who gave their all on the field and joined hands in support of Dai An Temple in Tokyo. Every drop of sweat shed, every heartfelt contribution is a brick that helps build our common home more spacious and solid.”
The success of the 4th FAVIJA Charity Cup is not only reflected in the professional quality of the matches but also affirms the spirit of solidarity and mutual support of the Vietnamese community in Japan, working together to build a spiritual project with long-term significance for future generations of overseas Vietnamese.
