The RoK’s Consul General in Da Nang, Kang Boo-sung, said future technologies that are innovative and representative of Industry 4.0 are being implemented. Such technologies as the Internet of Things, robots, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence (AI) are no longer imaginary.
For future prosperity, both Vietnam and the RoK should not only quickly respond to changes generated by Industry 4.0 but also proactively make adaptation, he said, stressing that the two countries have become the most important partners of each other in most areas over the last 30 years.
He expressed his belief that with active cooperation in new technologies and new industries, the two countries will jointly obtain prosperity in the future.
Pointing out the AI development situation in Vietnam, a representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology said 50 universities nationwide are providing training in AI. There are nearly 970,000 people working in the information and communications technology sector, including nearly 180,000 IT personnel and about 1,600 in the AI sector with some 300 experts.
Vietnam has gained certain results amid Industry 4.0, but it hasn’t had any research or training establishments specialising in AI at the regional and global levels while its open data system remains modest, the representative noted.
Talking about the Vietnam - RoK cooperation in Industry 4.0, participants shared information and experience in building support mechanisms and policies. They also discussed measures to enhance ties between organisations and enterprises of the two sides to develop human resources for the revolution, supporting the research and development of key technologies, and exchanging experts, researchers, businesspeople, and students.
