Crowds await A80 officers and soldiers at Saigon station

WVR - At 10 a.m. on September 5, at Saigon station, Nhieu Loc Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, the area was packed with residents and relatives eagerly awaiting the train carrying nearly 600 officers and soldiers returning from the military parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of August Revolution and Nationa Day (A80).

At 9 a.m., the area around Saigon Station, Nhieu Loc Ward, was filled with cheers. Hundreds of people, mostly young individuals, arrived early to welcome the officers and soldiers who completed their mission during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution ( and National Day.

At exactly 10 a.m., the train pulled into the station, met with resounding applause. The entrance quickly became crowded, with many young people forming two lines, continuously cheering and encouraging each soldier as they stepped down.

The SE63 train, carrying 598 officers and soldiers from Military Region 7, Military Region 9 (male unit), the Navy, and Army Corps 34, departed from Hanoi Station at 8:25 p.m. on September 3.

Ms. My Le, 35 years old, from Nhieu Loc Ward, shared that she had been waiting since 8 a.m.: “I came to welcome them out of admiration and respect, not for any particular individual.”

Amidst the eager crowd, many young women anxiously awaited the return of their loved ones. Thao Chi, 23 years old, woke up at 4 a.m. to travel from Vung Tau Ward to welcome her boyfriend, Ngoc Quy.

Truc Nghi, 20 years old, arrived at 7 a.m. to welcome her boyfriend, Van Quyen, 22. They met during A50 and both participated in A80, but she returned earlier by plane. During the two parades, Nghi was part of the female guerrilla unit, while Quyen was in the paratrooper special forces. “I thank the nation for bringing us together,” Nghi said emotionally.

Some soldiers will not return home but will continue their duties at their units. Lieutenant Dang Van Sang, 26, who served as a military medic at A80, will resume his duties at Military Hospital 7A, An Dong Ward, upon returning to Ho Chi Minh City.

When all the soldiers had disembarked, Lieutenant Le Hoang Hiep lingered in the carriage, waiting for the station to clear. However, as soon as he stepped out, he was immediately surrounded by the crowd.

Despite quickly moving to the meeting room, many fans closely followed Lieutenant Hiep.

Some other soldiers hurriedly left the station to reunite with their families after months apart.

Lieutenant Vo Vinh Thanh, 25 years old, who participated in the air defense unit in both A50 and A80, eagerly awaited reuniting with his mother after nearly a year away. After completing his report at the unit, Thanh plans to head straight home to Vinh Long.
