Chinese Embassy in Vietnam: Sowing seeds of knowledge, nurturing the future of Vietnam-China relations
WVR - On the afternoon of August 19, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam held a ceremony to present admission letters to Vietnamese students who were awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The program is of practical significance in opening up opportunities for outstanding Vietnamese students to study and gain experience in China’s educational environment.
Through the program, the “seeds” of knowledge and friendship are nurtured, contributing to stronger educational exchanges, greater mutual understanding among the younger generation, and a firmer foundation for future Vietnam-China cooperation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei emphasised that the upcoming study journey in China will open up opportunities for each student to learn, experience and grow, while providing Vietnam’s younger generation with a chance to directly explore China’s country, people, history and development achievements.
The Ambassador encouraged the students to remember three things: “observe development, appreciate culture, and foster friendship”, urging them to actively explore China, broaden their understanding and accumulate practical experiences throughout their studies.

Reflecting on the profound historical ties between Vietnam and China, Ambassador He Wei recalled accompanying General Secretary, President To Lam on his visit to China in April 2026, when he had the opportunity to retrace part of the route associated with President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary activities from Guangxi to Cao Bang.
Drawing on this experience, the Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam encouraged Vietnamese students studying in China to visit landmarks and historical sites associated with Vietnam’s revolutionary history, enabling them to gain a deeper appreciation of the historical foundations of bilateral friendship and the value of the “profound Vietnam-China friendship, as comrades and brothers”.
Ambassador He Wei also reiterated the message delivered by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of China Xi Jinping at a meeting with Vietnamese and Chinese youth representatives in April 2026, emphasising that young people are a “crucial bridge” between the two Parties and the two countries.
Accordingly, the younger generations of both countries should continue to strengthen their ideals, enhance their capabilities, actively acquire scientific knowledge, and deepen their understanding of the history and relations between Vietnam and China, thereby making practical contributions to the development of each country as well as bilateral cooperation and friendship.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh emphasized that the successful admission represents recognition of each student’s capabilities and persistent efforts, as well as a source of pride for their families, teachers and those who have accompanied and supported them.
According to the Deputy Director General, within the overall Vietnam-China relationship, education and training play an important role in strengthening mutual understanding, trust and people-to-people ties, thereby creating a solid social foundation for bilateral relations.

The field also makes a practical contribution to realizing the “6 more” cooperation orientation, helping further lay the groundwork for the two countries to promote the building of a Vietnam-China Community with a Shared Future that carries strategic significance.
Highly appreciating the Chinese Government’s attention to and support for human resource development in Vietnam, the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training representative noted that, over the years, scholarship programs between the two Governments have provided opportunities for generations of Vietnamese students, lecturers, researchers and experts to study and conduct research at Chinese educational institutions.
After completing their studies, many of these students have put their accumulated knowledge and experience to practical use, contributing to Vietnam’s development while serving as bridges promoting cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.
In the 2026-2027 academic year, 28 Vietnamese candidates were officially accepted by Chinese educational institutions, including six undergraduate students, 13 master’s students and nine doctoral candidates.
For the new scholarship students, Deputy Director General Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh expressed her hope that they would make the most of their learning environment, proactively acquire knowledge and engage with professors, experts and international peers, while strictly observing the laws of the host country and maintaining the positive image of Vietnamese students.
More importantly, each student is expected to become an “ambassador” of friendship, actively introducing Chinese and international friends to a peaceful, friendly, dynamic and culturally rich Vietnam.

Representing the new Vietnamese scholarship students, Vu Minh, a 12th-grade student from the High School for Gifted Students in Foreign Languages under the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, expressed his honour at receiving the Chinese Government Scholarship and preparing to study International Politics at Renmin University of China.

Vu Minh said the opportunity to study in China is the result of the long-standing attention and cooperation between the two Governments in education, culture and youth exchanges, creating favorable conditions for Vietnam’s younger generation to broaden their horizons, access an international learning environment and mature through the process of international integration.
For Vu Minh, the upcoming journey also carries a greater sense of responsibility, as each scholarship student can serve as a bridge helping Chinese friends gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam, its people and its culture.
Sharing with The World and Vietnam Report, Vu Minh said that preparing for a new learning environment requires a flexible approach to foreign-language learning, combining language proficiency with cultural understanding and practical communication.
He believes that actively learning, experiencing and engaging with others will help international students gain confidence in adapting to a new environment while developing a deeper understanding of the country in which they study.
For Vu Minh, this approach also forms part of his aspiration to serve as a “small ambassador” of friendship.
“Through my upcoming exchanges with Chinese friends, I want to embody the distinctive qualities of the Vietnamese people, from friendliness and hospitality to openness and sincerity”, he said, adding that these personal connections could help foster mutual understanding and lay a foundation for his continued contribution to Vietnam-China friendship in the future.
