The online seminar organized by the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Society.

The event was attended by nearly 50 delegates from across Canada, including CVFS speakers who are members of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) such as Mr. Philip Fernandez and Mr. Steve Rutchinski.

With deep knowledge of Vietnam's situation, Mr. Fernandez moderated the seminar, making it engaging for participants. He interspersed the discussion with video clips of Vietnam's National Day celebrations, highlighting the joy of the Vietnamese people over victories and successes achieved under the leadership of the Communist Party.

Mr. Fernandez, CVFS spokesperson, stated that after the collapse of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, many parties struggled to cope and find direction. According to him, one of the significant achievements of the Communist Party of Vietnam was identifying a path forward in the new context, steadfastly adhering to Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought while adapting to Vietnam's conditions.

From Ottawa, Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Vinh Quang delivered speech outlining Vietnam's journey of struggle and development through the periods 1930-1975 and 1975-2025, and a new turning point towards a new era of national development.

Participants were particularly interested in Vietnam's success in nation-building and development, where the country has made significant progress in achieving the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Delegates also noted Vietnam's prominent role on the international stage as a nation advocating for peace and friendship. Mr. Fernandez congratulated Vietnam on the historic milestone of its 80th National Day and expressed hope that Vietnam will continue to achieve new milestones in its era of growth.

The CVFS spokesperson noted that Vietnam's key resolutions are crucial in its efforts to develop the economy, effectively address challenges, and combat corruption. He stated that Vietnam has gained independence, and now, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the people are in control of their destiny in this new development phase.

At another location, Mr. Rutchinski, a CVFS Executive Committee member, expressed admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and his legacy in building and developing Vietnam, especially in the current global context. He also expressed a desire to share experiences with the Vietnamese people, who are continuing 80 years of successful tradition on the path of building socialism.

Overall, speakers and participants showed great interest in Vietnam's progress over the past 80 years, marked by a strong transformation in economic growth and Vietnam's current contributions to the international community. The seminar concluded with affirmations of Vietnam's spirit of innovation, marked by shifts in development models, administrative reforms, and investments in human resources and science and technology.
