Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025 leaves a strong impression on international friends

WVR - On September 9, the Vietnam National Day event at the World Expo 2025 Osaka (Kansai, Japan) attracted a large number of Japanese citizens, international tourists, and the Vietnamese community in Japan.

This is one of Vietnam’s key and representative activities at EXPO 2025, contributing to the promotion of the country's image, its people, and culture to the world.

A landmark event reflecting national prestige

National Day is one of the most important official activities for each country participating in EXPO, aimed at showcasing national identity, cultural values, development achievements, and future directions.

The most anticipated event of National Day was the official ceremony held on the morning of September 9, attended by a high-level delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, and notably Princess Tsuguko of the Japanese Royal Family.

Representing the Japanese Government and the EXPO 2025 Organizing Committee, Mr. Yuichiro Koga, State Minister of the Cabinet Office in charge of EXPO and State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, emphasized that since the two countries elevated their bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world, exchanges have been continuously promoted in all fields.

Referring to the theme of the Vietnam Pavilion at EXPO 2025, Mr. Koga hopes the Vietnam Pavilion will help spread the message and image of Vietnam to Japanese and global friends.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long affirmed that EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai is a meaningful convergence point; a blend of past, present, and future.

This is an important occasion for countries to spread cultural values, showcase advanced scientific and technological achievements, while also raising common awareness and enhancing cooperation in realizing the United Nations' sustainable development goals and building our ideal future lifestyle.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that Vietnam and Japan share high political trust, cultural, historical, and human similarities, and a long-standing people-to-people exchange relationship. On this basis, he expressed confidence that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will enter a new, more comprehensive, strategic, and profound development phase across all fields.

An Artistic Program Connecting Tradition and Modernity

Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai featured dozens of cultural, artistic, trade, and promotional activities of various scales.

Artistic programs involving many Vietnamese art troupes and renowned artists were grandly organized at various locations within the EXPO 2025 premises.

Notably, the opening art program of Vietnam National Day led the audience on an emotional cultural journey through Vietnam – from traditional values to contemporary colors, from distinctive Vietnamese identity to aspirations for international integration and reaching out to the world.

Some standout performances included Bac Ninh folk songs, the tray dance of the Ba Chua Xu Festival, contemporary puppetry, Central Highlands folk music, Aria Dan Bau in the opera Princess Anio – a symbol of Vietnam-Japan cultural cooperation, and the powerful voice of diva My Linh in the classic song If we hold on together.

The "Radiant Vietnam" program in the afternoon continued to energize the National Day Theater with the appearance of My Anh – a young artist embodying creativity and internationalization through two modern English songs she composed.

Additionally, at the parade around EXPO and the "Vietnamese Cultural Features" program on the outdoor stage, traditional Vietnamese costumes from various historical periods, recreated by designer Coco Nguyen, were showcased by models representing the vibrant Vietnamese community living and studying in Japan.

The artistic programs within the framework of Vietnam National Day were organized under the artistic direction of People's Artist Tran Ly Ly, with the participation of leading art units such as: Vietnam National Academy of Music, Vietnam Puppet Theater, Bac Ninh Cheo Theater, Dam San Music and Dance Theater...

Opportunities for collaboration with potential partners

As part of National Day, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, organized the Vietnam-Japan Trade Forum, gathering dozens of prominent enterprises from both countries. The products displayed and introduced spanned various fields: parts – components, clean fuel, food, handicrafts...

Alongside artistic and trade activities, a series of impressive tourism – cultural promotional programs were also implemented, featuring activities such as: the photo exhibition "Vietnam – Leading Heritage Destination" showcasing dozens of high-quality works that have won domestic and international awards about Vietnam's cultural and natural heritage recognized by UNESCO; the "Ninh Binh – Heart of Heritage" program highlighted Ninh Binh's scenic spots with interactive activities such as DJ performances, folk games, and souvenir giveaways...

Visitors also had the opportunity to explore the art of Vietnamese tea appreciation, enjoy organic tea grown in the coastal region of Quang Ninh, and experience making traditional toys and wearing Vietnamese conical hats...

Vietnam National Day concluded with a reception hosted by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, attended by Mr. Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor to the Vietnam-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, and many other high-ranking guests.

At the event, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that at EXPO 2025, Vietnam not only aims to showcase impressive socio-economic achievements but also to convey unique cultural values, humanistic spirit, and the beauty of the Vietnamese soul.

The exhibition space creatively combined tradition and modernity, making the Vietnam Pavilion a vibrant experience at the heart of EXPO, embodying the spirit of a "human-centered inclusive society" that Vietnam brings to this EXPO.

Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025 Osaka was not only a major cultural-diplomatic-trade event but also an opportunity for international friends to see a dynamic, creative, and culturally rich Vietnam ready to integrate deeply into the global flow.

The event was also a special highlight in a series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2; an occasion for the world to better understand a peaceful, culturally rich Vietnam that always extends a welcoming hand to friends and the international community.

The Vietnam Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka is organized and operated by the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

With the theme "Human-centered Inclusive Society", the Vietnam Pavilion is divided into three main areas (traditional, modern, and future), using modern exhibition language combined with advanced technology to spread proud stories about Vietnam to international friends, promoting Vietnam as a model of sustainable economic development, harmonious with cultural development, linked with progress, social justice, and environmental protection with the core motto "leave no one behind".

After nearly 5 months of opening, the Vietnam Pavilion welcomes 9,000 to over 12,000 visitors daily, being rated as one of the most popular type B pavilions by visitors.

The Pavilion has welcomed many high-level Japanese and international delegations as well as many domestic delegations. One of the highlights of the Pavilion is the daily water puppetry and traditional music performances (4 shows/day).
