The meeting also aimed to expand cooperation to other potential agricultural products, thereby strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin congratulated Jorge Vidigal Fole on his appointment as Director of IAM, expressing confidence that he and the Institute will continue to play a pivotal role in promoting the development of Mozambique's cashew industry.
The Ambassador appreciated the potential and contributions of the cashew industry to economic development, livelihood creation for the people, and export promotion in Mozambique. She also shared Vietnam's experience in developing the cashew industry, enhancing processing capacity, and increasing product value.
Director Jorge Vidigal Fole stated that by 2025, Mozambique's cashew production is expected to reach approximately 200,000 tons, with processed output at around 40,000 tons, and export turnover reaching about USD 121.6 million, nearly three times the figure in 2024.
He expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in sharing experiences, transferring technology, and attracting investment in cashew processing, aiming to enhance domestic processing capacity, increase product value, and target processing approximately 482,000 tons by 2034 under the Cashew Value Chain Development Program for 2025–2034.
Beyond the cashew industry, Jorge Vidigal Fole also expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Vietnam in coffee and macadamia sectors through exchanging production development experiences, cultivation techniques, processing, and connecting businesses from both countries. These are fields with complementary potential, opening opportunities to diversify agricultural cooperation, promote investment, and increase the value of Mozambique's agricultural products.
Both sides highly appreciated the potential for cooperation and affirmed their desire to promote stable, long-term, and mutually beneficial trade relations. They agreed to enhance cooperation in the cashew industry in a deeper, more substantive, and effective manner, gradually expanding from raw material trade to high-value-added areas such as experience sharing, technology transfer, processing investment, and enhancing participation in the international value chain.

On this basis, the two sides aim to gradually expand cooperative connections to coffee, macadamia, and other potential agricultural fields, leveraging each side's strengths, effectively exploiting cooperation opportunities, contributing to the sustainable development of Mozambique's agricultural sector, and enhancing Vietnam-Mozambique economic and trade relations.
