Attending and speaking at the launch ceremony were Mr. Vi Thao, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Mr. Pham Thanh Binh, Vietnamese Ambassador to China; Mr. Loro Horta, Timor-Leste Ambassador to China; and Mr. Luu Ai Luc, Chairman of China Post Group.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Vi Thao, on behalf of the Party Committee and Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, emphasized that China and ASEAN share contiguous mountains and rivers, with a long-standing and close friendship. Since the beginning of this year, President Xi Jinping has held talks with leaders of several ASEAN countries visiting China, including Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar, achieving significant common understandings on enhancing cooperation in agriculture and other fields.
According to Mr. Vi Thao, the event “ASEAN Fruits Gather in Guangxi” is not only a festival to promote unique fruits but also a cooperative forum aiming for a mutually beneficial future. He expressed his desire for the parties to continue optimizing the cross-border trade environment, building effective connectivity platforms for high-quality ASEAN agricultural products to penetrate deeper into the Chinese market and jointly exploit the potential of this vast market.

Mr. Vi Thao also proposed enhancing cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy, promoting AI applications in orchard monitoring, cold chain coordination, market forecasting, thereby advancing the high-quality development of the fruit industry. Simultaneously, the parties need to actively promote “hard connectivity” in infrastructure and “soft connectivity” in rules and standards, building complementary, mutually beneficial, and win-win cross-border supply and industrial chains, contributing to the increasingly cohesive China-ASEAN Community of Shared Future.
Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh stated that the event holds strategic significance for deepening economic-trade cooperation between China and ASEAN. The Ambassador expressed hope that Guangxi and Vietnam will accelerate rail, road, sea, and logistics connectivity; promote the construction of smart border gates, continue to streamline the flow of goods from Vietnam and ASEAN countries into the Chinese market; enhance customs clearance efficiency and develop cross-border e-commerce.
According to Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh, these efforts will help the parties share development opportunities from China's super-scale market, thereby contributing to the prosperity and common development of the region.
Timor-Leste Ambassador to China Loro Horta noted that Timor-Leste and Guangxi have long maintained close relations, cooperating in fields such as mining, tourism, fruits, and many other areas with positive results. He hopes the two sides will continue to strengthen connectivity, expand economic-trade, cultural exchanges, and other fields; build mutual trust relations, jointly exploit new growth drivers, and achieve more practical cooperation results, elevating economic-trade relations to new heights.
Chairman of China Post Group Luu Ai Luc stated that the group will actively implement the new linkage chain “ASEAN Production - Guangxi Distribution - Consumption Across China” proposed by the Regional Party Committee and Government. Accordingly, China Post will organize themed livestream programs about ASEAN fruits in 10 provinces, implement nationwide online sales programs, bring ASEAN fruit cross-border trade fairs onto traceability platforms and the Youle thematic area to expand consumption across China; simultaneously build ASEAN fruit trade services into a model of China Post's cold chain logistics system.
On the same day, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Vi Thao received representatives of ASEAN diplomatic and consular missions in China; and together with Chinese and international delegates, visited the exhibition area and attended the ceremony welcoming the cross-border ASEAN fruit cold train on the occasion of the regular operation of this train line.
Participating in related activities were Ms. Lu Tan Ninh, Standing Committee Member of the Regional Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Mr. Chung Dac Chi, Secretary-General of the Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; envoys, trade representatives, industry associations, and fruit suppliers from ASEAN countries in China; along with trade associations, fruit purchasing units, and cross-border trade enterprises from China.
With the theme “Bringing ASEAN Fruits to Consumers Across China”, this year's event includes six main contents: “Envoys Introduce Delicious Fruits, Gifts from the Land”; “Hub Formation, Rising Convergence”; “Merchants Gather in Guangxi”; “Smart Digital Connection, Fresh Fruits to Every Home”; “Sharing Sweetness, Enjoying Fresh Fruits”; and “Joint Efforts for Win-Win, Project Signing”.

At the event, diplomatic representatives from Vietnam, Timor-Leste, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and many other ASEAN countries in China introduced via video the specialty fruits of each nation. Nanning City showcased the achievements of building the China-ASEAN (Nanning) Fruit Trading Center and the development of cross-border fruit trade in the locality.
The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products (CFNA) presented the prospect of making Guangxi the first hub for ASEAN fruits entering the Chinese market. Meanwhile, JD.com, China Post, and the China National Railway Group respectively announced thematic action programs to support Guangxi in building a fruit trade center oriented towards ASEAN.
On this occasion, many famous figures domestically and internationally directly introduced ASEAN fruits; representatives of Chinese and ASEAN enterprises also signed numerous projects for purchasing and consuming ASEAN fruits, opening up new cooperation opportunities in the regional agricultural supply chain.
