On May 30, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Central Committee Member, Deputy Party Secretary, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu met with Member of the Standing Committee of the Regional Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) Lu Tan Ninh.
In a friendly, sincere, and open atmosphere, both sides expressed delight at the positive development momentum of Vietnam-China relations. Notably, exchanges and cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Guangxi have achieved significant results: Trade in 2025 reached 311.2 billion CNY (45.8 billion USD), up 5.3%, accounting for 38% of Guangxi's total export turnover.

Vietnam has been Guangxi's largest trading partner for 27 consecutive years. Transport connectivity, the opening and upgrading of border gates, and cooperation in science and technology have made substantial progress.
To concretize the important outcomes achieved during the State visit of General Secretary, President To Lam (April 2026), Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu proposed that both sides continue to effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms, enhance the sharing of experiences in socio-economic development and local governance. He emphasized pioneering the high-level common understanding on deep economic linkage between the two countries, accelerating transport connectivity, focusing on the two standard gauge railway lines Lang Son - Hanoi and Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong.
He also suggested piloting a smart border gate model and a cross-border economic cooperation zone, organizing effective investment and trade promotion activities, and actively facilitating the export of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products to China, while leveraging the tourism potential of both sides.

Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu also welcomed Guangxi's robust cooperation with Vietnam in science and technology, particularly in artificial intelligence, green agriculture, clean energy, renewable energy, high-tech processing, and sustainable development.
Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu also proposed that both sides continue to effectively implement the three legal documents on the land border, jointly building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and developing border.
Agreeing with the cooperation proposals of Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Lu Tan Ninh affirmed that Guangxi places special importance on exchanges and cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities. He expressed a desire for both sides to strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, especially in transport infrastructure connectivity via rail, road, and sea, maintaining sustainable trade development, and expanding cooperation in high technology and artificial intelligence.
Vice Chairman Lu Tan Ninh affirmed that Guangxi is ready to promote the import of more Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products, coordinate in upgrading border gates, facilitate customs clearance, encourage cross-border tourism cooperation, and foster friendly exchanges between localities on both sides.
