AEF 2026: Unlocking capital flows and diversifying financial solutions

WVR - On the morning of 28 October, as part of the Autumn Economic Forum 2026 (AEF 2026), Ho Chi Minh City announced the first 10 members of the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCMC).

On this occasion, reporters from The World and Vietnam Report spoke with representatives of EQuest Capital, SonKim Capital IFC and AG&P Vietnam Holding Company Limited, three of the Centre’s first 10 members.

In an interview, Mr. Truong Hoang Nam, Director of EQuest Capital Co., Ltd., said education was a sector requiring long-term, stable and continuous investment.

The company therefore expects VIFC-HCMC to create opportunities and provide a platform for mobilising capital suited to the long-term development goals of Vietnam’s education sector. This would enable continued investment in infrastructure, international education and training programmes, and sustainable development plans.

Reflecting on the company’s recent engagement with the VIFC-HCMC Executive Authority, Mr. Nam noted its serious approach to developing a model that would do more than bring together ancillary financial services, instead seeking to diversify the ecosystem of financial solutions.

In his view, this direction is of practical significance in attracting high-quality foreign capital and creating favourable conditions for the development of Vietnamese businesses.

Expanding opportunities in infrastructure and energy

For Mr. Pham Van Dung, General Director of SonKim Capital IFC Co., Ltd., VIFC-HCMC could become an important channel for Vietnam to mobilise and access international investment, particularly long-term capital for infrastructure and real assets.

Joining the Centre at this early stage would offer investment opportunities while enabling SonKim Capital IFC to work with relevant authorities and other members to develop policies, legal frameworks and structures for attracting foreign capital that meet the high standards and stringent requirements of international investors. The company hopes to work alongside VIFC-HCMC on its first transactions, thereby strengthening investor confidence and laying the foundations for the Centre’s sustainable development.

Mr. Dung also advised businesses considering joining VIFC-HCMC to take the initiative and become involved from the outset. This would allow them to access dedicated policies, gain a better understanding of investor demand and develop structures suited to the products they intend to offer in the future.

Meanwhile, Ms. Tran Dza Nhat Thuong, General Director of AG&P Vietnam Holding Company Limited, said AG&P and Nebula Energy were focused on developing an integrated energy value chain, spanning liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure, gas-fired power generation and energy solutions for data centres and the digital economy. These are all strategic sectors requiring substantial, long-term investment.

She expects VIFC-HCMC to act as a bridge between businesses, international investors and financial institutions, facilitating capital mobilisation, strengthening cross-border capital flows and enabling the implementation of flexible and effective financial solutions.

According to Ms. Thuong, with the support and partnership of the Government, VIFC-HCMC could play an important role in promoting investment in strategic infrastructure projects, strengthening energy security and contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s digital economy.
