The year 2026 marks the 22nd year of the summer volunteer program by the youth of Ho Chi Minh City in Laos. Over the years, the program has continued to promote the pioneering and volunteer spirit of the city's youth, while also contributing to the nurturing of the special solidarity and traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
In Attapeu province, the volunteer team implemented various social welfare activities, community support, and youth construction projects in the districts of Saysettha, Phuvong, Samakhixay, Sanxay, and Sanamxay with a total support value of nearly 1 billion VND.
Key activities included training in agricultural techniques, livestock, and veterinary skills; garment skills training; medical examinations, health consultations, and free medicine distribution for disadvantaged residents.
Additionally, the team presented social welfare gifts, wheelchairs, blood pressure monitors, and organized numerous children's playgrounds with interactive activities.

Notably, nearly 2,000 residents in Attapeu received medical examinations, health consultations, and free medicine. Furthermore, the team installed drinking water systems in schools and presented significant projects such as renovating and repainting schools and indoor playgrounds at Vong Sam Phan Primary School in Phu Vong district; renovating the Vietnam-Laos Friendship School in Attapeu province; constructing the "Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Youth Friendship House" in Sanamxay district and the "Lighting the Vietnam-Laos Youth Friendship Road" project at the Attapeu Provincial Youth Union campus.
In Sekong province, specifically in Tha-teng district, the volunteer team donated a Friendship House, conducted medical examinations, and distributed free medicine to 500 disadvantaged residents.
Simultaneously, the team provided 100 social welfare gift packages to disadvantaged families, donated 50 backpacks and school supplies to students, and installed clean drinking water systems to improve living and learning conditions for local residents.
In Vapi district, Salavan province, the volunteers continued to carry out practical activities such as medical examinations, health consultations, free medicine distribution, and social welfare gifts for disadvantaged families, as well as organizing children's playgrounds.
The team also inaugurated and handed over a Friendship House to a household in particularly difficult circumstances.
Meanwhile, in Champasak province, the program was implemented in the districts of Munlapamok, Xanasombun, Pathumphon, Khong, and Sukhuma, focusing on education, cultural exchange, and social welfare.

Many notable activities were organized, such as teaching Vietnamese to students at the Laos-Vietnam Friendship School in Champasak province; donating computer labs, Friendship Houses, traffic light systems, RO water filtration systems, outdoor playgrounds, laptops, school supplies, notebooks, and Vietnamese textbooks. Additionally, the team painted classrooms, conducted pedagogical training for teachers, and provided medical examinations and free medicine to residents.
On June 23, during activities in Munlapamok district, the volunteer team was honoured to welcome Member of the Standing Committee of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Pakse city Bounhadeth Thongsavan; Consul General of Vietnam in Pakse Ta Phuong Dung; Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Youth Union Suvanalat Sihavong, along with local leaders who visited and encouraged the volunteers.
The delegates directly participated in various activities with the team, such as presenting gifts, visiting residents, inaugurating children's playgrounds, launching drinking water systems, and attending professional training activities.

As part of this year's program, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Attapeu Provincial Youth Union, and volunteers also organized a flower-laying ceremony at the Vietnam-Laos Combat Alliance Monument.
The team also coordinated with the Champasak Provincial Youth Union to lay flowers at the Monument of President Kaysone Phomvihane, and visited and paid courtesy calls to leaders of Attapeu, Champasak provinces, and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse.
Through these activities, leaders of many Southern Laos localities acknowledged and highly appreciated the practical contributions of the youth of Ho Chi Minh City over more than 20 years of program implementation in Laos.
