The economy shines bright

Ms. Rachel Nguyen noted that amidst global economic downturns and slow growth in major economies, Vietnam's ability to maintain macroeconomic stability and positive growth is a remarkable achievement.

“The most impressive highlight for Vietnam over the past five years is its ability to harmoniously combine macroeconomic stability with structural reforms, notably digital transformation linked to improving the investment environment and attracting high-quality FDI,” expert Rachel shared.

She emphasized that digital transformation not only enhances state management efficiency and administrative transparency but also facilitates businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, to engage more deeply in the value chain.

Notably, Vietnam continues to attract strong FDI inflows, particularly in technology, green production, and manufacturing industries. According to her, this reflects international investors' confidence in Vietnam's long-term economic prospects.

Alongside digital transformation and FDI attraction, the Secretary General of SVEF believes that strategic transportation infrastructure development also plays a foundational role, enhancing regional connectivity, reducing logistics costs, and creating room for medium- and long-term growth in Vietnam.

“The synchronization of these pillars has helped Vietnam not only withstand external shocks but also lay the groundwork for sustainable growth in the coming period,” Ms. Rachel added.

High expectations for the 14th National Party Congress

Last December, SVEF, in collaboration with the Trade Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland, organized the Swiss-Vietnamese Business Outlook 2026 Roundtable and Christmas Party.

This event was seen as an opportunity for the business community, partners, and stakeholders from both countries to review the cooperation journey in 2025 and discuss prospects and cooperation directions for 2026.

During the event, many members mentioned the positive future between the two countries following the upgrade of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Switzerland.

Ms. Rachel shared: “Over the past five years, Vietnam's continuous upgrade of relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with many important partners, as well as establishing a Strategic Partnership with Switzerland, reflects Vietnam's growing international stature and reputation.”

According to her, this is not only the result of proactive, flexible, and consistent diplomacy but also shows the international community's increasing trust in Vietnam's role and contributions.

She assessed that Vietnam is now regarded as a stable, reliable, and responsible partner, capable of connecting and cooperating with major economies amidst increasing geopolitical competition.

Independent, self-reliant, multilateral, and diversified foreign policies have helped Vietnam maintain strategic balance while expanding cooperation space in economics, trade, investment, science-technology, and sustainable development.

From SVEF's perspective, upgrading relations with leading partners also shows that Vietnam is not only an “attractive investment destination” but is gradually becoming a partner in co-creating value, engaging more deeply in global supply chains and regional, international initiatives.

Besides political-diplomatic significance, the upgrade of relations between Vietnam and Switzerland to a Strategic Partnership also creates substantial and long-term impacts on both economies.

According to SVEF's assessment, this is a development step that aligns with the complementary interests of both nations.

Regarding the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Ms. Rachel affirmed that SVEF always trusts the success of the upcoming event, hoping the 14th Party Congress will introduce groundbreaking decisions with long-term vision and high executability to realize Vietnam's aspiration for prosperity by 2045.

She expressed the highest expectations for decisions that will promote growth model innovation based on science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

This requires strong institutional reforms, creating policy experimentation space, encouraging private sector development, and forming leading enterprises with regional and global competitiveness.

Ms. Rachel anticipates breakthroughs in developing high-quality human resources, considering people as the center and driving force of development.

Policies on education-training, attracting and utilizing talent, as well as connecting intellectual resources domestically and internationally, will play a crucial role in Vietnam's breakthroughs in high-tech, green economy, and digital economy sectors.

Additionally, the 14th Congress is expected to more clearly define sustainable and resilient development strategies, linking economic growth with environmental protection, energy transition, climate change adaptation, and ensuring social welfare.

Continuing to invest comprehensively in strategic infrastructure, especially digital, energy, and logistics infrastructure, will create a solid foundation for long-term growth.

Finally, SVEF hopes that the decisions of the 14th Congress will continue to promote independent, self-reliant, and deep international integration, enhancing the quality of international cooperation, effectively leveraging strategic partnerships, thereby transforming Vietnam from a developing economy into a developed nation with high income, increasing prestige, and a growing role on the international stage by 2045.
