On the afternoon of January 7, in Hanoi, authorized by the Party Central Committee, Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, along with Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Organization Nguyen Thanh Binh, and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, co-chaired the briefing on the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam for foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations in Vietnam. The briefing was attended by representatives from central committees, ministries, and sectors.
During the briefing, Minister of Foreign Affairs Trung emphasized that amidst rapidly evolving global and regional dynamics, interwoven with both opportunities and challenges, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam holds pivotal significance, marking a crucial milestone in the nation's development journey. It is an important occasion to evaluate and summarize 40 years since the initiation of the renewal process and the five-year term of the 13th National Congress (2021 - 2026), thereby setting comprehensive development goals and directions across all fields in the new era of the Vietnamese nation.
Given this immense significance, the 14th National Congress is being closely and meticulously directed by the Party Central Committee, specifically the Politburo, the Secretariat, and General Secretary To Lam.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Trung highlighted the theme “Under the glorious flag of the Party, united and determined to achieve the development goals of the nation by 2030; strategic autonomy, resilience, confidence, advancing strongly in the era of national awakening, for peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, and civilization, steadily progressing towards socialism” of the Congress. This theme reflects the encouragement, motivation, and direction to continue comprehensive, synchronized, and profound renewal efforts, determined to overcome all difficulties and challenges, achieving the national development goals by 2030, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding (1930-2030), and moving towards realizing the vision by 2045, marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1945-2045).

Regarding the process of preparing the Congress documents, Foreign Minister Trung stated that the document preparation work has undergone fundamental innovation, with the Political Report for the first time integrating the content of three documents: the Political Report, the Socio-Economic Report, and the Party Building Summary Report, thereby reflecting the spirit of continued innovation in methodology and thinking.
The documents have been meticulously and elaborately prepared, with extensive consultations within the Party, among the people, both domestically and abroad. Regarding the personnel work for the Congress, Comrade Lê Hoài Trung affirmed that this critically important task is being conducted meticulously, securely, cautiously, and accurately, considering it a prerequisite for "turning vision and aspiration into results".
On this occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs Trung announced the significant achievements of the 13th National Party Congress term and 40 years of Renewal. Economic growth from 2021 to 2025 averaged 6.3% per year, placing Vietnam among the high-growth countries in the region and the world; the quality of growth has seen positive transformations, with development investment resources being mobilized and utilized more effectively; economic growth is more closely linked with ensuring social progress and equity. National defense and security have been continuously strengthened; foreign relations and international integration have been elevated.
The Party building and rectification efforts have achieved many significant results; the revolutionary restructuring of the political system's organizational apparatus towards being streamlined, strong, efficient, and effective has achieved breakthrough results.
Foreign Minister Trung stated that in the upcoming term, the draft Political Report and Action Program for implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress identify the need to focus on three strategic breakthroughs and determine six key tasks to propel the nation forward in the new era of development.

Regarding foreign policy in the Congress documents, Foreign Minister Trung emphasized the inheritance of the foreign policy line from the renewal period while supplementing guiding viewpoints to strengthen national defense, security, and promote foreign relations and international integration as essential, regular tasks.
Vietnam's consistent policy is independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, multilateralizing and diversifying foreign relations; ensuring the highest national interests based on the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, equal and mutually beneficial cooperation; being a friend, a reliable partner, and an active, responsible member of the international community; actively and responsibly participating in addressing common regional and international issues.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Trung emphasized that organizational work has been thoroughly prepared, ensuring security and safety, in accordance with Party and Vietnamese regulations. Vietnam is ready for this important Congress, which will take place from January 19-25, 2026, and extended a cordial invitation to representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations in Vietnam to attend the opening and closing sessions of the Congress.

At the briefing, many Ambassadors and Heads of diplomatic missions shared their insights, highly appreciating Vietnam's development achievements and expressing expectations for Vietnam's future development directions.
Laos Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Earthavanh stated that the 14th National Party Congress marks a new milestone in Vietnam's development period after 40 years since the Renewal era, representing a significant political event for Vietnam and its international friends, neighboring countries, and strategic partners.
Ambassador Khamphao Earthavanh assessed that Vietnam's achievements increasingly affirm the astute leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the unity and cohesion of the entire Vietnamese nation. He expressed that with the spirit of solidarity, democracy, discipline, innovation, and development, the 14th National Congress will establish comprehensive directions, laying the foundation for Vietnam to enter a new, more sustainable, and successful development phase, continuously strengthening Vietnam-Laos relations for the benefit of the people of both countries and for peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and the world.
