The 14th National Congress of the Party, scheduled from January 19 to January 25, is fast approaching. This Congress marks a particularly significant milestone in the country's development path, as it opens a new era – an era in which Vietnam is determined to realize the two centennial goals: the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding and the 100th anniversary of the nation's founding, striving to become a developed, high-income country by 2045.

The Congress theme: "Under the glorious flag of the Party, united and determined to achieve the national development goals by 2030; strategic autonomy, resilience, confidence, advancing strongly in the era of national resurgence for peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, civilization, happiness, and steadfastly moving towards socialism" clearly reflects the position and role of the 14th Congress, marking a turning point with historical significance for the country's development.

The 14th National Party Congress is likened to the second renovation effort, demonstrating the high political determination of the entire Party, army, and people to lead the country into the era of national resurgence. The draft Political Report has been meticulously prepared, featuring many innovations: concise, succinct, highly generalized, tightly structured, comprehensively reflecting major national issues.

Prof. Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan, former Central Committee member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee for the drafting of the 14th Congress documents, stated that the unification of three important documents – the Political Report, the Socio-Economic Report, and the Report on Party Building and Implementation of the Party Charter – into a single Political Report for the 14th Congress is a new breakthrough. This represents a breakthrough step, showing a tight unity of all arguments and viewpoints of the Party's line; reflecting innovative thinking, strategic vision, and a daring, decisive spirit in leadership and direction.

Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan also emphasized a significant new point: even before and during the Congress, the Party's line has been concretized into strategic decisions. Before the Congress, the Politburo issued important resolutions: 57, 58, 66, 68, 70, 71, 71... concretizing the Party's line in the Congress into strategic decisions. This step facilitates proactive review, amendment, and immediate resolution of bottlenecks, overcoming limitations, closely following objectives, development orientations, and key tasks for immediate implementation after the Congress.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Thao, former Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, assessed that after 10 years of Renovation (1986–1996), amidst a world where many countries were still mired in crisis, Vietnam overcame difficulties, firmly advancing on the path of national independence and socialism. By 2008, Vietnam's per capita income exceeded 1,000 USD.

"We have emerged from underdevelopment, entering the group of developing countries with middle-income status. This is a historically significant achievement, opening a new chapter for the Vietnamese nation," Dr. Nguyen Viet Thao emphasized.

Forty years of Renovation have created a historical turning point, helping the country overcome underdevelopment, gradually perfecting a socialist-oriented market economy. From a backward agricultural nation, Vietnam has become a large-scale economy in the region. By 2025, GDP is expected to exceed 500 billion USD, making it the fourth-largest economy in ASEAN and the 32nd in the world; trade turnover is projected to surpass 900 billion USD, ranking among the top 20 countries globally. Vietnam continues to be a bright spot for economic recovery and growth amid global fluctuations.

Many opinions suggest that the draft documents for the 14th Congress are presented concisely and clearly; the development goals and targets for the next five years are concretized with easily understandable and implementable figures. Notably, the guiding viewpoint emphasizes taking science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the main drivers of development.

National Assembly delegate Ta Van Ha – Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Society – believes that digital transformation plays a foundational role in all development activities. When the Party has clear directives and includes them in the documents, the likelihood of success is higher. Over the next 10 to 15 years, the results of this process will become evident.

He also emphasized the need to continue breakthroughs in developing science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation according to the Politburo's Resolution 57; developing the private economy according to Resolution 68; promoting international integration according to Resolution 59; and perfecting institutions, building and implementing laws according to Resolution 66.

The National Assembly and Government have issued many resolutions and action programs to implement the Politburo's resolutions. Therefore, ministries, sectors, and localities need to continue concretizing and effectively organizing implementation; stakeholders in science and technology and innovation need to unite and work together to synchronously implement the proposed tasks.

It can be affirmed that the 14th Congress is a particularly important political event, demonstrating the Party's intelligence, courage, and great responsibility towards the Vietnamese revolution in the new era; it has significant implications for guiding the country's development path, shortening the process of moving towards socialism. The 14th Congress will continue to awaken the aspiration for a prosperous and happy nation, propelling Vietnam forward, standing shoulder to shoulder with global powers in the new era.
