VPS 2.0: Connecting Vietnamese intellectuals in the United States
WVR - Recently, the Association of Vietnamese Professionals and Students in the United States (VPS) officially launched VPS 2.0, marking a new development after 14 years of establishment and operation.

The event gathered many diplomats, scholars, business leaders, experts, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the United States to reflect on the development of Vietnam–United States relations and discuss the role of the Vietnamese intellectual community in the new phase of cooperation between the two countries.

Highly appreciating the contributions of VPS, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung stated that in the context of increasingly deepening Vietnam–United States relations, networks like VPS play an important role in connecting the knowledge, experience, and resources of the overseas Vietnamese community, thereby promoting bilateral cooperation.
The Ambassador emphasized that as the community of Vietnamese professionals and students in the United States becomes more effectively connected, it not only creates more development opportunities for each individual but also contributes to building sustainable "bridges" for the relationship between the two nations.
He expressed hope that VPS 2.0 will continue to be an important platform helping the Vietnamese community in the United States strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of education, science and technology, innovation, the digital economy, and the development of high-quality human resources.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Huynh The Du, Co-founder, President, and CEO of VPS, stated that VPS 2.0 marks a transition from a community network to an action platform, aiming to connect knowledge, resources, and cooperation opportunities between Vietnamese in the United States and Vietnam.
Accordingly, VPS 2.0 focuses on key areas such as STEM talent development, career counseling, expert connection, supporting Vietnamese businesses to access the U.S. market, promoting research cooperation, and expanding the Vietnamese community network.
Within the program's framework, VPS also introduced a series of strategic initiatives to build a global Vietnamese knowledge connection ecosystem. The projects focus on developing high-quality human resources, supporting scientific research, providing business consulting, and connecting expert networks in technology, healthcare, education, and innovation.
One of the highlights of the event was the announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between VPS and the VNUHCM Innovation Hub. The two parties will collaborate to implement activities connecting academia, scientific research, talent development, expert advice, and knowledge transfer between Vietnam and the United States.

According to the leadership of VNUHCM, collaborating with Vietnamese intellectual networks abroad will contribute to promoting innovation initiatives, enhancing the quality of human resources, and supporting the resolution of Vietnam's development challenges in the new phase.
Besides the launch of VPS 2.0, the program also featured a special seminar with the participation of many former and current ambassadors of Vietnam and the United States, along with business leaders and scholars. The speakers focused on discussing the prospects of bilateral relations, the role of the Vietnamese intellectual community in the United States, as well as cooperation opportunities in education, technology, innovation, and the digital economy.
Many opinions at the seminar suggested that the recent upgrade in bilateral relations has created a favorable foundation to enhance cooperation in various fields. In this context, networks of Vietnamese experts, entrepreneurs, and students in the United States are expected to continue playing a crucial role as bridges, contributing to the expansion and effectiveness of bilateral relations in the coming years.
Through VPS 2.0, the organization aims to mobilize community resources to support the younger generation, promote academic and technological cooperation, and strengthen connections between Vietnam and the global Vietnamese intellectual community.
This is seen as a new step to leverage the role of overseas Vietnamese intellectual resources in the country's development process and to foster Vietnam–United States relations.
